Been All Good...

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2008
I moved out of Marcy Park after two years here only because I graduated and it was time for our group to move on. I thik thisis the best value in campus living. We had a three bedroom unit and it was huge.We could ave had five people in it. Very well maintained. Very clean. The on-site caretaker is gruff Bosnian dude who gets on everyone's case when they screw off, but otherwise, he goes about his business in an efficient way. There has been some management changes, but the new manager (Shannon) seems as capable as the older one, (Katie). Both were helpful and friendly. You're buying space at Marcy. No hot tubs, no tanning beds...but no urinals in the elevator at 3am like I experienced at Melrose. Management keeps it quiet. Good parking situation. Cheap on the lot...pricey down below. I paid $75 to keep my car inside. Get the surface parking if you can. It goes fast. We stored four bikes and had room to lock 'em in the garage. They didn't want us bringing 'em upstairs. There's no exercise room and no other amenities, but the place practically heats itself. We spent less than $65/month on heat and electric. The basic cable tv offering is pretty sparse, but split 3-ways, the DirecTV upgrade was worth it. Internet is Qwest DSL or another company. Go with Qwest and get a wireless modem to share. No laundry in unit, but plenty of machines on each floor. This was a downer. No quarters necessary and not too spendy, but at these prices a laudry pair would've been nice. My new place is run by the same company, and it seems pretty good.
