If you are looking for apartments, never live in Remington Campus, and if you are current resident there, I want to let you know that you don t need to clean up your room when you move out because they will try their best not to return you the deposit.
I had very terrible experience in Remington Campus Apartments. I don t want such bad things happen to you some day. That experience was the worst thing happened to me so far. I never ever experience such terrible and rude management and checking out process.
I lived there for 2.5 years. The old manager(Matt) is very good, then after Matt left, the new manager is so bad! I think all of you have the same feeling as me. I never find her, it seems that there is no manager at all. I tried to call the office number, but mostly got voice mail. I don t know what she is busying with every day. You never find her in the office. No mail box delivered any more.
Well, I don t need to say more about the management at Remington Campus Apartments, I think you have your own experience there. The point here is to let you know that if you will move out, you don t need to clean your apartment at all because no matter how hard you worked, how good your room look after you put your effort, they will try their best not to return you the deposit. I lived in many places, and I never ever saw such picky and ridiculous checking out ! Below is my terrible experience last month.
I moved out at the end of April, and spent my whole day to clear up the apartment. By the way, I lived in apt. #B304. it is very old apartment. Paint on the wall and closet fall down. I never asked them to remodel it. The stove and oven are so old. I subleased it from others. so there are some nails made by previous resident. Anyway, I tried my best to clear every place which I can see and reach, and I even bought a new stove top to replace the old one. After all my effort and work, the room looks very nice , clear and shine.
I made an appointment with the manager. On the day, I took 2 hours off from my work to be my apartment. Firstly, to my surprised, the floor was messed up by some paint and paper. Some one is painting in the room. Why they did it just after I moved' They knew I will move, and they knew I will check out the apartment. Why they sent the painter here to mess up' They should do it after they checked out. I saw some drink and snack on the top of my kitchen, and everything was messed up. Anyway I waited there for 10 minutes, no one came. So I went down to the office, as usual, the office was closed. No one was there. So I went to 1st floor office, a girl, who looks like an American Indian (I guess) stopped me and I told her I made an appointment with the manager for checking out. She told me there is no one in the office, then she made a phone call, (I guess she called the manager, and the manager could not make it, so she will check it out for her). Then she went up with me. the whole checking process was so ridiculous and picky! First, I told her the floor was messed up by the painter and it was very clean before. She ignored me, and talked with the painter in Spanish. I did not understand Spanish. But I could tell she asked him about room or bad places in the room he noticed. And he said lots of word, which I don t understand, but I understand his figure language, he opened the closet door, bathroom door, pointed to the wall. So he was pointing some places. The two persons talked and communicated each other, and she wrote something on the paper. She did not even ask me or communicate with me. why I should be there' Their attitude was so rude. They totally ignored me. and picked thing by themselves. Is this the right way to do checking out' Is it the painter s job to check the room' It was so rude and ridiculous ! The more ridiculous thing was she moved everything out from the original place, such as the refrigerator , stove , the table between the stove and refrigerator. and she even checked for dust, she reached the blind for dust, she even took off the cover of the air-conditioner to check the dust . That was so ridiculous! (which I was told by Matt that the manager should take it off and put it for resident on each year, so I never take it off by myself). She was even picky to the new stove top, and she said it does not fit very well , and took pictures. She also said to me you should dust the ceiling lamp . How can I reach it ' she told me to borrow a ladder. This was the first time I was told to dust the ceiling lamp when moving out. She often wrote down something, and even took pictures by her cell phone. The whole process was so rude and picky! I was totally ignored by them, I felt just two of them (she and the painter) discussed how to try their best to pick and get money from my deposit. By her checking way, I bet for a new apartment, she could pick up lots of thing to say and write and photo. This checking way is totally insane! I was so regret that I ever did clear up!
It took 2 hours, I can t wait, my manager called me because I only took 2 hours off, I never expect it would take so long. They seemed still try to pick as much as they could. I told her I had to leave soon. Then she asked me to sign the paper then I could leave, she even did not give me chance to read that, and she said she still need to check something. I said I can t sign without reading. Then she was so rude, and said then you have to stay until it is done! . ok, I stayed there for another 40 minutes. I read what she wrote. I was so shocked, and angry by them. I totally did not agree with what was written on the paper, so I told her, I was sorry I did not agree with it, and I could not sign it. She was rude, and said then don t sign it, I have lots of pictures for evidence! I was so angry at her words. I said I need to talk to the manager , and left without signing.
The next few days, I called many times to the manager, finally I got her, and talked with her about the checking out. She said she had to look at the paper and pictures then gave me a call. After 1 or 2 weeks, I did not get any call or letter from her, I called her several times again. She told me it was not her responsibility to do that, it was the owner who decide it. The paper and pictures will be looked after May 23. she told me to call after May 23. On May 28, I called her with some efforts, she told me that she could not find my record about my deposit, then told me to hang on, after a while, the line was cut. The other say, I called her again, she picked up the phone, then someone else took that, it was the girl who checked out for her. She said a letter will send to you, and deposit will not gave back to you because the room is dirty, and I took pictures What' I could not spend my time, effort and energy to clear it up at all! I was so regret to do that! anyway they will find any excuses to get my deposit!!! I told her that actually I did not care about the deposit, I was very angry at her way , and I will let all residents there know about this, and I will tell every one I know to stay away from Remington Campus Apartments.
Then she said the manager will call me back, then she asked me for phone number, which she wrote on the document when checking out. Until now nothing happened, no letter, no phone call.

I've been living at the other building of Remington for a year and a half and I'm terrified that they're going to screw me over royally when I leave. I'm tempted to not even clean up at all, and just leave them with a mess. My cats have ruined the venetian blinds and I've made a few nail holes, and I'm sure they're not going to return my deposit no matter what I do now. Remington sucks and I make sure to tell everyone who asks that it's not worth moving into at all. Worst apartment I've ever had, hands down.

I used to manage the building for about three years. Left in early '07. From time to time, I've checked this site to read comments and have not been surprised by what I've seen. I worked hard to improve the building and felt that most residents appreciated it. But, working with the ownership to make strides was very difficult at times and was a big reason I resigned. I had a strong feeling that once I left, a decline would take place. I'm sad that so many posts on this website confirm that. - Matt

I am the property manager of Remington Campus Apts. and I am very saddened to hear what #b304 has said! We do have pictures to prove how filthy the apt. was at the time of her move-out and she was there for the check out walk through. She also claimed that the previous manager Matt gave her the apartment that way (dirty). The walls/cabinets and blinds in the kitchen were full of grease and under and behind the stove and refridgerator were dirty! We do provide checklist (move-out list) that we provide the tenants so that they know what and where to clean. The walls in the bedrooms were filthy and dirty and so was the carpet. Yea she might have cleaned to her best ability and we appreciate that she tried but, the apt. was not cleaned to out standards! This does not come to a surprise to me as she did threatened to slander our company name! But that is fine we wish her all the best regardless. Mrs. Wolfe

TO be honest, I don't think its anyway the owners fault when you move into an apt. There should be pictures that should be taken of ALL problems and every little detail should be documented, pictures should be developed with the dates on them. Obviously problems wouldn't occur if the proper care the renters take. I clean religiously and I can say if I am a picky cleaner, I will find every grease stain, every dirt spot, every little thing. So every time I move into a place I take pictures first, before the move in, write down EVERYTHING that is wrong, even the small things, where holes are, where its molding where there are cracks, where it was excessively dirty. If its not documented, it is free game for the next renter, seriously.... just be smart.

I have to say I find it hilarious that Yolanda Wolfe is accusing people of slandering this company. The only reason they are not on the news anymore is because they hide their identity through a series of shady sales and LLCs created for cover. I assure you Ms. Wolfe that Jim Eishcens is not a victim of slander but rather lucky that the TRUTH is still being hidden.
