This place is frightening. I was fooled by the profile and photo on Rent.com into touring the place, and am writing this to warn others.

Where to start' At 9am people were already blaring music. The building manager chain-smoked in my face and ashed her way through the tour. Guys just "hanging out" around and across the street stared at me (a single female) as I got out of my car.

The biggest clue was when the manager explained that she couldn't show me a certain unit because the previous tenant had a court order barring them from entering. The one she did show me had been "completely trashed" (her words) by the previous tenant. The place overall is a dump. Nasty carpet, old dirty kitchens, grimy walls.

The building newsletter the manager gave me had a cheerful article defining what the "garbage house" and "trash house" mean. If you want to learn what either of those things mean, move here.

Don't be fooled-- save your time and don't even bother looking at this place. Unless you have some sort of serious criminal record or enjoy endangering yourself, you can do SO much better.

Just an FYI... the manager was FORCED to quit smoking thoroughout the building, thanks to the Minnesota Health Department. (much to her dismay.) Also, the dudes "Hanging out" across the street... That is a half-way house for people with substance addiction. It is a group home. I am a resident at Rose Manor. The management does suck, but the maintenence is good, and QUICK. But as far as the fast-paced 'ghetto' lifestyle? well that is all a part of living downtown. Even all the people buying up all these insanely priced condos in the neighborhood have to deal with it. It is a city, there is crime. Hopefully you found an apartment in a nice quiet suburb. :)
