I've lived in my building for 7 months and so far, it's been nothing but a nightmare.

Between the bad neighborhood, the druggies, the infestation, the lights in the hallways being out for a week, the front door window being broken so people could easily get into the building, the run-ins with the rental office, the building inspections every 3 or so months, and other minute problems, I would NOT do it all over again.

Sure, the prices are great. But it's really not worth it.

And this is coming from someone who lived next to Frogtown in St. Paul, which is a really bad neighborhood.

i have lived here since last feb and i really like my apartment. i havent had any problems with maintence, staff, infestation, etc. as for this person who wrote this, there is 3 things to point out. you will get mice if you have a dirty messy apartment and leave food out. its the same as in a house. if you keep your place clean you wont get them. i have had one inspection, but that is one in the past year since i moved in. they have only done 2 in the past year and they let you know a week in advance. i have had a light go out in my hallway, but i called maintenence and they came and fixed it right away. so i guess if you are thinking about living here, it is in not the best neighborhood, but it is close to downtown, uptown, campaus, etc. i have a puppy i bring out to walk at 2am and i have never felt unsafe. So if you are smart and dont leave food lying around and dont have a dirty apartment you wont get a mouse. if you have a problem and call maintence you wont have lights out for a week. its simple common sense.

Thanks to minneapolisrenter18! Really appreciate the outlook as I am a (soon to be displaced/downsized) homeowner with a yen to become re-acquainted with city culture. Suburbia DOES offer safety & plenty of parking - accompanied by UTTER DEPENDENCE on automobiles! I agree, cleanliness will control ants, roaches and possibly CITY mice; but COUNTRY (suburban) mice are more difficult! If you ever own a home where THEY roam, forget having a heart and set your traps or poison the first cool night! Again, thanks for the heads-up on personal responsibility for RENTERS, too!
