Poor management and crack

The office staff is horrible! They seemed great when I signed the lease, and overall they were adequate, but they couldn't even handle the picking up of a package, and tried to screw me over on my deposit.

The area isn't the safest, and the building's flickering lights and dark back entrance made it even spookier.

In the end of 2005/beginning of 2006 there was a huge crack problem in 1900 3rd Ave S specifically. I contacted the rental office several times about it (two apartments in the building were involved with the crack dealers). There were huge arguments going on up and down 3rd Ave from 19th to Franklin, one which involved a gun, and everyone in the building was croweded in the entry way to prevent them from entering the building.

Those two apartments in the building led to crackheads sleeping in the hallways at night, begging for money from me in the building's hallway, and many police encounters. The police told me that Steven's Community had been unresponsive in dealing with the offenders. I finally got them arrested when they tried selling to me and the cop found crack in the building.

Long story short, if you move here... look forward to a great location, fast maintenance response, and cheap rent, but be prepared for incompetent management, lack of attention to and resolution of problems, crime and safety issues, and street parking.

me and my husband lived in the 1831 Clinton Ave building, on Clinton and 19th. BAD ------- neighboorhood. It was scary to leave the house. Drug dealers are always EVERYWHERE, walking openly with their guns, and their dope.
Witnessed a brutal mugging outside of our apartment one night, we heard the woman screaming, and it woke us up. not to mention the building sucked. We lived on the first floor, but they always rented out a basement space below us to some douchebag, that shouted at his video games and sounding like he was right in the living room with us! the apartment was small, the windows were thin, and the neighbors sucked. Everything fell apart, the day we moved in.
not to mention it looked like our front door had been kicked in a bunch of times.
The store on 3rd and 19th is scary, we witnessed a robbery and several scuffles outside of the store. Not to mention the prostitutes that would hang out.
Bad neighbor hood. FLAKY management. and a total rip off. I could have paid a lot less in another ghetto and at least have had a better apartment.
