Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2007
My husband and I moved to minnesota, and needed to find an apartment quickly, so we moved into an garden apartment. This was our first apartment, so we didnt know what is expensive or what, but the rent was $630. Although it was small, at first it was okay. But we started to notice people sitting on our stairs (we had a private entry) Then the mice came, there was so many mice that we began to call to management on a daily basis to no avail. We have a toddler so after we threaten to call the health department, they then moved us to 2011 3rd Ave S, the apartment we had was beautiful BUT, the ceiling in our bathroom collapsed. Also, the hallways always smelled of alcohol as well as vomit on the weekends. Ladies Beware this area is dangerous. First, I was followed home, then I saw a man beat up a prostitute right in front of the complex. There are a lot of drug dealers and prostitutes. It is not a place for people with kids. This is a good place for someone who doesnt drive, it is walking distance from downtown which I loved. It was very scary at night, but in the day it was okay. Also, the rent is very outrageous. It was $800 a month for a 1 bedroom, my upstairs neighbor whose apt was identical paid $60 less. OVerall, it is okay for a hipster who likes the downtown scene and who works downtown, not good for single ladies or families, MOVE TO the suburbs cheaper rent bigger apartments. WE also got towed many times as, well as the washer and dryers were always broken.
