Nice but Not Flexible

The Lake/Fremont building is in a great location if you are looking for swank restauraunts & independent movie theatres. Uptown is definitely a metropolitan atmosphere. Very quiet but many young professionals and occaisional community events. Close to Lake Calhoun & Lake of the Isles. Grocery across the street. New (2004) apartments have pergo floors & huge windows, nice kitchens. Maintenance is very likeable & responsive if needed (just garbage disposal & water temp. both fixed within 24 hrs.). Office wasn't very regular on delivering packages, you do have to check with them OFTEN. Underground parking is so convenient during rain & cold snowy Minneapolis winters although it costs extra it is worth it. 15 min to airport/Mall of America, 10-15 min to downtown, 15 min to St. Paul. In other words pretty centrally located. =)
I transferred to Minneapolis for a job in 2004 & I only signed a one year lease. However a new opportunity came up after only 4 months & although I tried to negotiate with the management at the apartment they were completely unwaivering. I even asked to transfer my lease & live in one of Village Green's communities in the city I wanted to transfer to. There was no buy-out clause in the lease & the management was not helpful at all. Had I chosen to move out at that time I would have owed over $10,000 for the full balance on my lease. (7 months for a 2 bedroom) Yes maybe I didn't anticipate it when I signed the lease but my suggestion is that if you are a young professional with a chance of moving with your company, go over the lease with a fine tooth comb or live someplace that will be more understanding.
