Living at Winnetka Village was a nightmare. Not only were the seniors unpleasant, but the children ran wild through the apartment complex. Maintainence was called on a weekly basis because the building is in such rough shape. The hallways are a mess with cobwebs, dirty carpet, etc. At one point they changed the locks on my mailbox without notice. When I went to check the mail, I noticed my key didn't work. There was ONE time I forgot to turn my rent in on the first (I did it on the 3rd - just forgot) and I received an eviction notice. What a joke.... When I confronted the manager (Lindsay) about the living conditions (with pictures), she ignored me and walked behind her desk to leave me standing there with the caretaker (who was at fault). The walls are extremely thin which allows you to hear everything going on. When I smelled pot in the hallways, I was told there was no need to call the cops and there was nothing they could do. HOWEVER, someone threw cigarette butts below my balcony and they threatened me with an eviction notice until I proved that it wasn't me. They (Lindsay) asked me to watch for the people doing it...... (Get a camera) The parking garage is very dark and extremely dirty. The tenants are responsible for cleaning the floors.... I have been out of there for a month now and have yet to receive my security deposit.

There are more reasons to stay away than what you mentioned. This place is a dive. The rent goes up but you get nothing for it. The lady above me must weigh 400 punds because I hear EVERYTHING. If they did to me what they did to you, I would seek therapy and then sue the pants off of them for emotional distress.

If I could afford it, I would be breaking my lease and moving out tomorrow. Whenever you have a complaint, management does as little as possible, telling you to take care of it yourself (when someone was continually parking in the space I PAY for, I was told to "leave a note on their windshield and hope they stop." Don't move here.
