Beware!

I have never lived in an apartment that shows such an incredible degree of disregard for their tenanats. We are paying for a product, that product being our living space, isn't it only natural to assume then that there would be some sense of duty and obligation on the part of the Richdale Group to ensure that their consumers are happy' Well there's not. After reading other entries on this site, it seems like I could have written either all or part of each individual entry. These entries are not just from one individual rentor who is frustrated or doesn't know what apartment living is like...MULTIPLE people are taking the time to write so you know the true story!! STAY AWAY!
My sister and I moved in here in Jan. '07 and were extremely excited to do so after working with the leasing office and receiving a tour of the model 'luxury' apartment. From the outside, the place looks beautiful. Neat and tidy grounds, respectable buildings, a nice leasing office...the buck stops there. We were also promised new appliances, new black appliances. Our new appliances were here when we moved in so I'll give them that, but they were not all black! They don't match!! I live on the second floor and there is a huge water spot on the ceiling in our bay window from the balcony upstairs. We were promised it would be painted...7 months later we still have the spot. We were told the kitchen flooring would be replaced before move-in. Guess what!' It wasn't. The laundry room is a joke. One washer washes warm/hot no matter what setting you put it on. One drier makes so much racket I feel bad for the people who live next to the laundry room!! The hallways are always dirty, doors don't shut, you've heard this all before if you've read the other entries...
Here's the best part. The tenant above us flooded his bathroom and it came down into ours (YES, I guess this has happened more than once) There was so much water my bathroom light fixture was full, my bedroom closet had water dripping down on my clothes, water ran all the way down the length of my bedroom. Every single corner of that half of our 2-bedroom apartment had water damage including both door frames and my light switch (sounds safe huh' mold, electricity and water'). This happened at 3 o'clock in the morning one day, causing me to miss work the next day. It took 3 weeks for the repairs to be completed and I'm pretty sure our apartment still smells funky. We were told by the office here that they would look into getting us reimbursed for our lost posessions. What a joke. During the course of this 3-week fiasco, we were rarely able to speak directly to the leasing office unless we went to the office itself. No one returned our phone calls or passed on our messages. We then tried corporate. Even more of a joke! NEVER ONCE did we receive an apology from anyone, let alone compensation. You better believe we are going to submit to move out when our lease is up (oh yeah, you have to notify them like 60 days in advance otherwise they automatically renew your lease and you have to pay to break it). WTF mate!'
Oh, and during the whole water-in-my-apartment fiasco...we let the leasing office/corporate know we would try to warn others of this hellhole. We were told we couldn't do that because it's slander. I'm not an idiot, I know what slander means. It means making FALSE claims to damage a person's reputation. FALSE claims. Every bit of what I've said is true. Don't sign a lease and find out on your own...take our word for it!!!
Needless to say, this company takes no responsibility for the product they offer.
