We have lived at Regency Woods for 1/2 a year now. I absolutely love it. The apartment we are in is a 2 bedroom split and it has just great Chi! Central Air is a godsend in summer. Right next to 494 and 394 highways is fabulous. Within walking distance to Ridgedale (and Ridgesquare).
One underground space per apartment can be hard if you have more than one car, we manage by switching off every couple of days, outside by our apartment there is plenty of parking, but up the road there are three buildings close together which always are overparked, if only people would walk just a little bit from thier space they wouldn't park on every bit of tar. Oh well, there is enough parking spaces if you are willing to walk just a bit to your building.
We moved from our previous apartment because of the noise level. I won't say that Regency Woods is silent, with your windows open you can always hear people outside, but when you want to sleep rarely do you have to put earplugs in to sleep. Just a general murmur of lived in space, not loud by any means.
The grounds are gorgeous, there is a dog building and I don't live in it or really go near it, but the rest of the grounds are crap free which is nice. The land is right next to woods, has a pond, tennis courts, beautiful pool (which looks like it may open in the summer, don't know though). The land is just beautiful, well kept up, plants and flower gardens, just pretty.
For safety, I feel safe, but I think that my martial arts background helps. You have to beep in with a card to the frond door or garage. There is a secure TV channel to see who is calling from the front door when you are buzzed on your phone. There is good lighting and most sidewalks are visible. Some areas seem a little less safe, like the sides and backs of buildings at night, but I guess they don't figure you will be spending time there at night. There is an outside light on your deck which is a nice added bonus.
The building was built in the 80's I think. It is better than other places we looked at, doesn't creak to much, but definitely not built to be higher than the code at the time. If your neighbors are really loud you can hear pieces of conversation, you can hear water running and washers running. None of our neighbors listen to really loud music so I don't about that one. Otherwise built pretty well. They let you put nail holes in the walls so they have confidence in the structure.
Maintenance is great in my opinion. I had a broken window from the moment we moved in. They were in about 3 times to try various fixes, that ultimately did not work. We ended up having to order a new window, which they said would take 3-5 weeks to get in and it was in and put into my wall withing 4 days. They finished the work in a couple of hours and didn't leave a mess even for how big a job that was. They fix simple things like a broken faucet handle, toilet dripping, etc. the very next day and always leave a note telling you what they have completed.
The staff is great. They almost always have cookies, popcorn, and snacks if you need to drop by the office. Most of them know your face after a few visits and can grab a package for you before you tell them your apartment. They have had answers for all of the questions we have come up with. Very helpful and friendly.
I would recommend Regency Woods to everyone. Yes it is a little more expensive than other places, but for the location, surroundings, and what they offer it is more than worth it.
