Went downhill fast

This was a great apartment complex when I moved in three years ago. People were courteous and polite and many of my neighbors had lived there since it opened. In those three years, a lot changed.

The hot tub in the pool was taken out and the pool was rendered unusable for months at a time. The TV in the fitness center was broken for almost three months. Are these minor complaints' Absolutely. However, when you live in a "luxury" apartment complex these aren't problems you expect to have.

This is Minnesota and everyone understands it snows, but there is no excuse for the parking lots to not get cleared promptly. A few times I got stuck in the garage because the plows would plow up to the garage door so there'd be a mound of snow.

Garbage is not picked up promptly - maybe once or twice a week, which is not sufficient given how much is generated. It's also ridiculous given that bills for water/trash/sewer/gas went up from $40/month in the summer and $90/month in the winter to being routinely over $100 a month in the three years I lived there. When asked, the office would offer no explanation.

The complex was bought and sold at least three times while I lived there and got progressively worse. It never was "bad" but was definitely not worth the price. In my last six months of living there, the water went out twice (once for almost a day at a time), the elevator broke five times, the front security alarm would beep for hours at night and no one would do anything, and the office stopped screening renters thoroughly. There were some very large, very bad dogs that definitely weighed more than the 75-lb "limit" but once again, complaints to Lisa did nothing.

The office staff has gone way downhill as well. Josh is the only original employee left and he still seems to care, but otherwise they are a nightmare. Lisa doesn't return phone calls or letters from residents.

Nearly everyone who lived in this building when I moved in has left, including me. Adding insult to injury after years of ridiculous rent increases, they nickel and dime you at move-out with no explanation.

Three years ago I would have enthusiastically recommended Regency Woods. Now, I'd tell you to run away. JPI (the current corporate owner) has taken a really special apartment complex and destroyed it. For the prices they charge, you can find something better in the area.

I would have to agree with you on the on price. This property is kinda of falling apart for the same price down the street you can get a nice unit new apps, carpet, rehabed kitchen and baths etc. Sorry to say this Josh has left too, so the maint. staff is the only one here! The office staff is all new and very very rude! I disagree on the maint. staff they do the best they can do, givin what the property will let them! I was in the biz for many years I got out of it. There is a budget to follow so mabe JPI is the problem and to blame this is why I left the biz!

I moved in here, sight unseen. They would only let me see a model. I signed papers 18 mos before actually moving in. I requested my deposit back and they refused so it was move in or loose my deposit. So, since I originally got approved and I moved in, I took a huge cut in pay (about $10k) at work so I could finish my degree, however I could still afford the apartment. However, no one rechecked. The model is in perfect condition. My unit, not so much. The appliances are old and I had to fix the washing machine myself, literally replacing the nut and bolt that hold it together and yes I'm taking my nut and bolt when I leave. The dryer has paint chips all over it, obvious original equipment from oh 20 years ago. My front door is dinged and scratched up, the doorknobs, I know this sounds petty, but they are all scratched/scrapped up. Cheapo replacement knobs on closet doors, reminds me of cheapo from the 70's. The carpet still had urine stains on it when I moved in, the wallboard is buckled in places and molding is separating in others. Some unremovable stains in kitchen and bath. The rent for a very small 1BR is $903, granted my pup is in that for $20/mo. They vacuum the hallways at 6:30am and bang the vaccuum on my front door, waking up my pup making him bark. I work later hours so this is annoying. The alarm at the front door. That hasn't changed. This weekend it went off at 4am Saturday morning, and it was late saturday afternoon before someone could get it to stop. We had lights out yesterday afternoon and yep the alarm off again and yep another 12 hours of beep....beep... oh so annoying and yes, it does wake me. This is a poorly built constructed building as you can hear the lovemaking from upstairs and every time they walk across the floor you wonder if it's a human or perhaps elephant???? Oh well, yes, the outside looks great. The pool is way overheated so for us lap swimmers, forget about it. If you rent here...good luck. One time they held onto my check til day 5 then returned it for no reason and added a $75 charge. Bad business. If you move in....good luck..

To the 11/02 anonymous - if the alarm goes off again, go downstairs to the lobby and call the alarm company and complain. They'll tell you to call the emergency maintenance number, so do that and demand that they call the alarm company. I did this a couple times and it got the beeping to stop.
