When I initially looked at the building, one of the things the manager really talked up was the sauna. It was currently out of commission because of graffiti but she assured us that it would soon be up and running again. In a year and a half it was never "up and running"
About six months before my lease was up, the ceiling in the living room started leaking. There were at least a dozen spots on the ceiling where water was dripping through and most of the ceiling was that brown color because it was damp. It took days for them to repair the roof on the outside and they promised to paint the ceiling as soon as it was dry enough. That never happened.
Finally, I entered the lease with my husband and one other friend. Our friend, Mr. H, was deployed to Iraq about four months into the lease. Upon returning my keys and moving out Management asked where I wanted each damage deposit check to be sent. I explained that Mr. H was out of the country and that she could just send his check to the same place as mine and my husband's checks.
I then receive one check with all of our names on it!!! The check was made out to myself, my husband and Mr. H. Since I would need Mr. H's signature in order to cash the check this becomes quite difficult, because he's in IRAQ. I play phone tag for about four days trying to get this squared away. I left a voicemail at Filister Enterprises explaining the problem and requesting three separate checks.
Harvey Filister and I finally reach each other and he tells me that he will NOT give me three separate checks and pretty much told me to sign (FORGE) Mr. H's name. Seriously....
