Don't live here unless you're desperate

Where do I start with "Poly"'
First of all, the apartments are in very poor condiditon. I'm not sure who does the painting, but there is no taping and I'm sure each wall has been painted over at least a dozen times. The carpet is disgusting. It smelled like stale cigarette smoke upon move-in. The office did offer to shampoo my carpet once with a renewal of my lease-that was it. Alldoors are scratched, dented, and often written on. One of my neighbors has the "f" word scratched on her front door. I was assured that my kitchen floor would be replaced in 2005 because of grease burns would but they never followed through with the repair. I had a leaky ceiling and a horrible mold smell and it wasn't taken care of until I called the city of New Brighton and asked to speak to a housing inspector.
The grounds look terrible, although if you like dirty cigarette buts than this is the place to live. The hallways look hideous-carpet stains and marks on the walls. Beware of the railings, they fall apart easily. Balconies were replaced two years ago, 1/2 of them were painted and 1/2 of them were not.
Throughout my stay here there have been homeless people living in dumpsters, cars and building being broken into, and damage to property.
Management turnover is a big problem as to why Polynesian is the way that it is. They don't care who they rent to, as long as they get their money. There have been residents, crack heads no less, that have been kicked out of one bulding and then were transferred to another. I walk into my building at least twice a week and smell marijuana. Management doesn't respond to complaints. The first manager I had contact with, Marcy, was actually very nice, as well was Kristie the assistant manager. Once they left, calls were never returned. If you have a problem with your neighbors you often are told "you have to work it out amongst yourselves". I've reported open drug deals to management and they don't seem to care. "Security" is a joke.
This area is considered the "ghetto" of New Brighton!
I have lived at Polynesian Village for almost four years and am counting the days until I can move this spring.

I've lived at Poly for 3 years now and I couldn't agree more with everything this author has written about it. Ghetto doesn't begin to describe it! The police are at my building twice a week, my neighbors do drugs openly in the hallways and loud music is an ongoing problem. Security isn't the only joke-management? What management?! There may as well not be any-they're worthless anyway.
I can't wait to get out of here!

Your review was so true. I lived here for two years, and it was awful. The worst part of this place is that it isn't even cheap-$805 for a two bedroom. Stay away!
