I have lived in three places in three years in the northwestern suburbs and I was very pleased with my stay at Bass Lake Hills. As with any apartment complex you have to accept the fact that it isn't a private home. You will hear some noise. You will have to deal with neighbors that are inconsiderate at times. Below is a summary of the pros and cons to Bass Lake:

Pros:
Personal garage parking
Washer and dryer in unit
Accepts DirecTv
Large sq footage for the rent paid
Patio w/ direct access to yard
Close to Super Target and highways
Pet friendly

Cons:
Older appliances and finishes
Grounds sometimes littered with neighbor children's toys (not the fault of the complex, the fault of the individual)


I also wanted to take some time to address all of the comments about the staff and safety. I am not, nor have I ever been employed by this company. When we moved in we had an issue with hot water in our apartment and were unable to take a shower. The maintenance was delayed due to the holiday and I was forced to go to work the next day without a shower. When the staff found out what happened they were very quick to respond and even took the time to write an apology. Since then we have not had any issues with maintenance. They have been very prompt. Shortly after I moved in I found out that my company was transferring me to a different state. I was overwhelmed by the amount of packing I had to do (again), but the staff was very helpful in explaining my options.

With regard to safety, I have never felt unsafe in these apartments nor have I ever seen any police. Thats not to say that there have never been police here. I'm sure there has been. I used to live in a very "high end" complex in Uptown and I once heard gunshots, yet here I have never even seen a cop car as some reports alledge are a regular sight. So, take it as you see fit. I feel safe, period.

I have also never had any problems with bugs or rodents. I suspect that if you did have a problem with bugs or rodents as some of my fellow reviewers have, it is most likely because you do not regularly take out your trash. Bass lake trash system is much like a house, you have to take your trash to the curb once a week. If you forget you could attract bugs to your trash. So, be a grown up and don't forget.

If I were staying in Minnesota you better believe I'd be a long term tenant here.
