I went to see an apartment at Creekside and liked it. So, I signed an application. This "application" has a clause in it that states if you are "accepted" by them you are liable for 2 monts rent. BE CAREFUL! This happened to me and another person I met. I looked at another complex and they were doing the same thing. I was amazed beyond my belief! I thought it was an "Application"! They aren't going to tell you that clause is in the "application". Nice place..too bad.

I filled out an application in early June 2007. I did this becuase I wanted to live there, not becuase I was going around to a bunch of apartments turning in applications to see which place would approve me. They did tell me that if my application was approved and if at that point I decided I didn't want to move in that they would keep my deposit (only $99, not 2 months of rent). This policy is not an uncommon practice among rental properties. Now I can't say what they did or did not tell you back in April, but even if they didn't tell you they'd keep the deposit, it is written on the application. The application at the time I turned it in only had 1 paragraph below all of the blanks that had to be filled in. This paragraph only took maybe 1 minute to read. My point is that when it comes to renting, buying, leasing, or just about anything you put your signature on, you need to know what it is that you are signing. That means reading. My guess is that you've either never rented before or you have very limited experience renting. Which is fine, we've all been there. But reading all parts of the application should have informed you of their policy. And with time, you'll learn which questions to ask before you decide whether or not you want to live there.
