Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004

I rented here in 2003-2004 and had the worst renting experience to-date.
The property was brand new and in great aesthetic condition. However, come winter, all the pipes in our building froze and broke and flooded every apartment. Dogs are allowed, which was a huge perk, but the harassment tenants received from the staff wasn't worth this luxury. Dog owners received notes in their doors frequently reminding them of the rules of the complex and what an honor it was for us to be able to house dogs here. The staff was always impersonal and almost unapproachable.
When you leave, patch up every nail hole with putty and paint. They tell you not to, but will charge you $8 per hole if you don't along with several other hidden charges. The walls are paper thin and you can hear music and conversations all around you. It felt like a mini prison sentence and I actually became a better person when I left.
Consider a different property.

Wow...I just moved from Jefferson due to a job change, but I could'nt disagree more with the above review. I also find it odd that it came from someone who lived there 6 years ago. Anway, at no time did I feel "imprisoned". The apartments are really nice and bright, as is the current staff. Two of the apartments are "pet friendly" buildings. And the only notices I've ever been aware of have been given to the selfish dog owners who don't clean up after them (even though Jefferson has provided numerous disposal sites and free bags). When I think of the staff, I'm reminded of them putting candy on my doorhandle when it was my birthday, and the day that they stood at the gate at 6am giving everyone a to-go breakfast. The words impersonal and unapproachable do not apply. Oh, 1 more thing being that I just went through this. The maintainece staff explained to me that because the walls of the apartments have a textured/orange peel type surface, they ask that you let them repair the holes. That way they can make a nice match for the next tenant. This of course takes time and is why they charge $2.00 per hole. I thought this seemed just fine. I think this is a great place to live, in a great location.

I wonder how long "Anonymous" lived at Jefferson. We lived there for quite some time and at first it was a great place to live and the staff was wonderful. As time went on and especially after the change in property management the community just went down the drain. I think it is rediculous that they charge $2.00 per hole especially for how poorly maintained the property is. The maintenance staff are lazy and rude. I would definately not recommend anyone to live at Jefferson. I would hate it if someone had to go through what I had to go through with their staff and especially with the office manager.

The first response to this review by Anonymous is obviously by a staff member. No offense, I understand the staff wants to keep the walls nice but charging per nail hole is asinine. No rational human would ever defend them charging a per hole charge for repairs for normal use. That??s like them charging you to remove minor foot indentations with a vacuum. What would they have you do? hang nothing all the wall? Ever!? Ridiculous.
