Not real impressed

Pros:
Large floor plans, washer & drier in unit, underground parking, units are fairly quiet, as long as you aren't hanging around your apartment door.
Cons:
Very old appliances, maintenance staff either doesn't like to, or is instructed not to repair much of anything (I had to fix my own noisy drier). When the maintenance staff does attempt to repair something, they don't seem to know what they are doing. I had a leaky dishwasher that they came out 5-6 times to repair, 2 of the times they replaced the same seal (if it didn't fix it the first time, why would replacing it a second time work') They eventually just gave up and replaced the whole thing. The office staff is constantly changing, and as a result, no one in the front office know much of anything, the intercom in the lobby of the 14300 building hasn't worked right since I moved in (my friend always has to cut through the main office after a few failed attempts to buzz him up), delivered packages just sit on the floor of the office, often unattended.
When there was a fire on April 19th, 2007, and a large portion of the 14300 building's residents were displaced (including myself), they gave notice on Tuesday the 24th that by Sunday the 29th, we had to have all of our possessions out of the apartment. Before this notice, we were only able to grab a few things out of our apartments, accompanied by a security guard. Although I was at the apartments on the 24th, the office staff wasn't around, and I did not receive the notice until the following day, giving me very little time to make arrangements to move everything out. When I asked if I could have 1 extra day, they said it wasn't possible.
Other thoughts:
When my wife and I moved in, the rent was affordable because the old appliances lowered the cost of the unit. When I inquired about 1 bedroom floor plans recently, the two available were $917 and $920 per month. That, in my opinion, is pretty steep for such a poor living experience. I'm not too upset only having paid $806 per month my first year, but $920 would be a rip-off.

Too true! This place is a -----hole. Unfortunately, living in Plymouth it's difficult to find a place that has a W&D in unit and also allows pets. Plymouth is a great place to live, having a W&D are important, but the apartment buildings are gross, pets routinely urinate all over inside and outside the building (rarely cleaned up by the owners of the pets of the staff). Just a gross place to live...

I am glad I found this site. I used to live in the Park Place Apartments several years ago when it was owned by Equity Residential. At that time it was a very nice place to live with knowledgable staff. I was even thinking of moving back. Now I have changed my mind.

I lived at Park Place when they were owned by Equity Residential also. A tenant on the first floor of the 14500 bldg assaulted me for holding the security door open while my daughter got on the bus. They filed an eviction notice on me before they filed one on the guy that attacked me. The same man tried to run a woman down in the parking lot the year before and they did not evict him then either.
We had a terrible time with noise - buildings are full of 20 somethings that are up all night playing electric guitar and smoking out on the balconies and then throwing their cigarettes down in the grass. Their standards are way too low - old crappy microwaves that hardly work, old appliances, old crappy carpet, no linen closets, hallway walls are all beat up and carpet is filthy - parking is rediculous - people don't use their garage parking spaces, so the lot for visitors is always full. I was never notified that I had a package at the office - waited for something at Christmas and they never even told me it was there. If you have a family and have to work in the morning, I recommend you either live on the third floor, or pick someplace else to live!

Just a thought, you said they have old applicances, yet they have upgraded most their units with brand new appliances and flooring, carpeting, W&D etc etc... then you complain that the rent was higher? What was it that you wanted, Cheap rent? or new appl? I just moved in to a very nice apartment there about a month ago and could not be happier with my upgraded unit and the deal I got on it, the staff was very helpful and has continued to be that way even after my lease was signed.
