Disappointed and Difficult

Perhaps my expectations of living here were just set too high. I would think that a place that does a background check, credit check, looks at references, takes a deposit, AND has really freaky "no winter move outs" rules would have it's poop in a group.

There was at least 3 other people moving out the same weekend I did. I ran into several of them and we all had the same impression "just get me the heck out of here".

Probably the most obnoxious thing about this place is the parking policy. You pay to park underground...but you're not allowed to park in the surface lot. There are only a dozen or so "guest" parking spaces. If you have someone coming over and all the guest parking spots are taken, their response is "oh well, they can't park here!". Unless you happen to go to the office (when they're open) and get a parking pass for your guest. Then they can park anywhere....I am relatively sure they get some kind of a kick-back from the towing company. "Parking policies are independently enforced by McTowing Company".

Except for the ford branco that's been parked in the garage with 2005 tabs on them, and a layer of dust, cobwebs and flat tires...apparently that's alright.

I never had much of a problem with hearing neighbors...that was probably about the only thing this place had going for it.

Looking around, you can see the crappy rental-property-white paintjob was done a million times...and is covering up poor sheetrock patch jobs. The maintenance staff and the people who clean the common areas have absolutely no attention to detail. I once saw a half-eaten piece of chicken sit in the stairwell for 3 weeks.

Once someone parked in my parking space underground. I left a message for the office staff saying what my name, phone number, apartment number, and parking space number. I got a call back from the lady in the office (who's extremely difficult to understand) saying "I need to know what kind of car it is". WHY' Can't you just walk down there and see that there's someone else parked in my spot whose license plate doesn't match the one you have on record (mine) and take care of the situation'

I was also home one day and the water all of a sudden just shut off while I was in the middle of my shower. I threw on a shirt and went down with my shampoo-soaked head. The manager in the office knew exactly why I was in there. She looked at me and said "Sorry! We had a leak and since the apartments don't have individual shut offs, we had to shut off the water to the whole building..."

The garage doors in the 3905 building are broken at least once a month-- so frequently you have to drive in the opposite door to get in or out.

And if you are living there now and want to move out-- make sure to remember that you need plenty of notice. (2 months plus one day). Do what I did and let them know WAY in advance...

For what it's worth-- you also can't get DSL here, and the cable tv installation leaves something to be desired.
