When You Think of Plymouth Oaks, think of New Jack City's "The Carter"

Dear Potential Tenant of Plymouth Oaks Apartments:
Just like you should read the fine print before entering into a contract, I hope and pray to God that you continue to read all of these reviews before entering into Plymouth Oaks.
When I first moved there in 2002, the complex wasn't perfect, but it was definitely better than where I came from. My unit was clean and the complex looked like it was decently maintained. And they didn't allow large dogs.
Over the years of my living there things progressively got worse-- and really fast. There was a period of time where they had a significant number of vacant units, so I guess the mgmt decided to stop screening potential tenants and accepting dogs of all sizes just to fill the units. Such a mistake. You started seeing dog feces on the sidewalks, in the grass and in the hallways. They installed a cheap ass playground set in the back, but prohibited anyone from playing on it and poured in sand instead of wood chips, which are safer and more sanitary. As far as the pool-- I'd rather take my kids to a public pool then have them swim in there! I NEVER allowed my kid to go outside-- we would go to the nearby park to play.
Everything you're reading here from the other reviews are true: blaring fire alarms at all times of the night; elevators smelling like some human or animal waste; water constantly being pumped out of the elevator shaft in to the front courtyard; dimly-lit "crack" hallways; washing machines that don't work (maint would switch the machines around from floor to floor); cops always there for drug-related activities and domestics; car break-ins and vandalisms (incl my car) and a host of other things.
I was there when the fire of August 07 happened. If they are offering you a new unit, just know that the appliances in your unit are just recycled from the fire-- they are ALL THE SAME APPLIANCES!! I saw them collect every single a/c, dishwasher, refrigerator, even the washers and dryers and stored them in the garage to clean out and install in the new units.
This review is already too long, but I wanted you to get my drift. I couldn't take it anymore so I moved-- quickly. I pay more for where I am now, but it's all worth it. It's a shame that there are those $300K townhomes perched right next to this wretched complex.
So, please-- read these reviews and stay away from that place like the plague. And if you're still living there-- do not continue to support the mgmt's negligence and total disregard for you--LEAVE!!!

So true.
After all the fire problems, the mold, the rodent/insect infestations, etc...i'm surprised they haven't been condemned, to be honest.
I'm contemplating filing a lawsuit actaully. Someone has to or this place will never change.
