Stonehill used to be wonderful community to live in. The staff was the best around and used to treat you as human beings. They understood that people had hickups in life and would always work with you as much as they could. They never made me felt as just another tenant. Unfortunately the owner of the building recently sold it StuartCo Management company. They have only been there for couple months and already the place is going down the hill. You get threating notes on your door for multiple reasons. They dont upkeep the property like they used to. You see spills and dirt for days before they clean it up. If you call the office, you always get a voicemail as they have fired all of the staff that used to work. It really feels that they are just there to make us much money by providing the least amount of services. They have picketed with multiple "For Lease" signs all over the place. Including a block away! This cheapens the property as well as the neighborhood. They have stamped their name all over the place as well. I guess they dont realize that people that currently live there may not find that too tactfull. STUARTCO biggest mistake was to get rid of all the staff working at Stonehill. If they would have kept it the same I would have renewed my lease and probably would not be writting this review. I hate being nickled and dimed like they do. Pay extra for this, and for this, and for that! Money hungry companies that take advantage of peoples living arrangements. lGjq8RUBjvsZjkb5ueji

I completely agree about the distasteful advertisement that has been going on, not to mention the poor up-keep and maintanence I've noticed since StuartCo took over. Ignore all of the great reviews prior to this one! Unfortunately, this place is NOT what it used to be.

I agree, we have only been here for less than 1 year but I can say that the first few months before the new management came in this place was GREAT to live in with the staff being so nice and friendly with you, you can feel the comfortable environment in the lobby but ever since the new management came in.... the carpets in the hallways have been dirty, stinks in the stairs going to the garage, notices every where about every little thing. And the staff (this does NOT include the 2 staff members they did decide to leave) but the new staff members......WHERE ARE THEY??? I have yet to see any new staff members and anytime you call it goes to voicemail to the point that I passed by the office, the manager was sitting there in her office and i did not have time to go in and talk to her personally so i called her while walking out and she never picked up the phone!! And I bet you they are going to raise the prices beyond their standards. They need to sell this place back or fix themselves up (which I doubt will even make a difference now). And the colors, Black??? Purple was a vibrant welcoming color the black makes it feel dull..... i want to move out already........thanks to STUART CO.

Exactly. The new manager has made one attempt to introduce herself and then it was postponed. They are moneygrubbing, introducing fees everywhere you turn. I have lived her almost 20 and a half years. I saw the building go up around me (literally). Ron Clark made sure this property was kept in tip-top condition and now it is slowly going downhill. The two they kept are marvelous but they laid off a big crop of people who should have stayed. It was a very miserable transaction for everyone who has lived here, especially the old-timers. I'm sure I will get a big hike come lease renewal...and for what? The summer should make a lot of things pretty evident. I can't say I agree with the maint. problems cited above. But the indoor carpets need a thorough cleaning in a big bad way and the new color scheme does not match. It totally clashes with all of the old decor.

I must agree wholeheartedly with the above testimonies, especially concerning the quality of the new management. I was a writer of one of the glowing reviews on here, and I now have to retract quite a bit of it. They did however end up cleaning the carpets, and did some interior painting. Other than that, no meaningful improvements. The maintenance team is still pretty solid, probably because they kept the former maintenance head on staff. Stonehill isn't any kind of hellhole (yet), in fact it's still pretty nice. That is: if you don't have to deal with the management, if you can get past the redecorating they've done, a falling sense of community, cigarette smoke smell in the hallway, and trying to squeeze more money out of you for less value. I really miss the old Stonehill, actually. Moving out...

I moved out because of the way the new management treats the residents. We became "tenants" rather than "residents". The word resident evokes a feeling of community, tenant is someone who can easily be replaced and they could care less if you renew or not. Keeping the old staff would have been difficult for the staff - because StuartCo wants things done THEIR way, which is to make money and not care for the resident - Ron Clark never treated the residents that way. He would come to parties and try to get to know us, he would work with us if there was an issue. How often does that happen with StuartCo? Glad I moved out and I know others that are going to follow as leases expire.
