Meh. It's alright.

More than any apartment I have lived in (which I've been through several in the area) I appreciated the decor and cleanliness of Stoneleigh the best. It's not one of those apartments that you suddenly realize on move-in day is a smelly, run-down dump. They keep the place fairly nice, which I appreciate.
However, I would concur with many of the existing comments about Management being a little lackluster.
When I first toured the apartment, they quoted me a price for a specific two-bedroom floor plan in a specific location, but once I had put in my application and paid my deposit, they turned around and told me that the unit I was applying for was far more costly and furthermore, not even available at the time. They claimed it was an honest mistake, but I'm still skeptical that it wasn't a bait-and-switch. Ultimately, they gave me a similar unit for $200 off per month (due to their mistake), so at least they didn't completely screw me over.
It was always a little like pulling teeth to get them to fix anything, including the lock on the front door to the building, which was broken for over a month when I was there. The parking lots and sidewalks were never adequately plowed or salted in the winter. When my water heater broke, it took two attempts by maintenance to actually fix it correctly, only after they managed to accidentally flood my apartment in the process.
The residents in building 2 were terrible that winter about cleaning up after their dogs, particularly in the area in front of the building, which resulted in the most asinine response from Management I've ever seen. They took away the disposal station that had been out front. So, you couldn't grab a bag if you were taking your dog on an actual walk, and you didn't have anywhere to throw your dog's mess away even if you wanted to. If restaurant employees aren't washing their hands, is it appropriate to remove the sink from the bathroom' Why does it make sense to punish the ones who were doing the right thing, just because some people were too lazy to'
Speaking of dogs, I was really alarmed by the number of residents who were clearly not in compliance with the stated pet policies. I don't know whether they were grandfathered in, or made exceptions for... or if Management just didn't enforce them at all... but there were dogs well over the weight limit, and several breeds that weren't supposed to be allowed. It's not a pleasant experience trying to ride an elevator with a hyper pit bull trying to start a fight with your 15 pound terrier.
Despite all my whining, though... I would live here again. Sad fact is, for all it's downfalls, I have yet to find an apartment in this area that's any better. At least I'd know what I was in for with Stoneleigh.
