Crappy place

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2008
I had moved from Kansas City, all the way up to Robbinsdale. The manager, her name was Chris, seemed nice and friendly over the phone. Halfway up, she changed her story about the price she needed for me to get in....but what was I gonna do' I was already halfway there.
She told me even though I wouldn't make it up there in time before they closed that somebody would wait to answer my phone call and let me into an apartment. I sat in my car for an hour wondering what I was going to do after the 8 hour drive with no place to stay, and a rottweiler/german shepard mix that I couldn't take to a hotel with me. Finally, after calling the emergency line, a lady came to let me in who reeked of liquor.
Finally, I got in...it was a dump. I didn't see this place first because I was coming from KC, mind you. The wood underneath the sinks had black mold growing everywhere, and the hallway smelled like crap. The wood cabinets were all cheap and falling apart, some were taped together literally...so were my counter tops. The security door didn't even lock. Not to mention people's cars were getting broken into every day I stepped outside, wondered when mine would be next.
The toilet didn't flush, and sometimes I had to use my trash can to dump water down it so it would. Ghetto. The water smelled very strange there too. On top of that, the whole neighborhood seemed to be terrible. I was extremely uneasy the whole time I was there, which was not long...two weeks. Also, at one point, I hid in my back room because I thought my across the hall neighbors were going to start shooting each other or at least kill someone. These people were so loud on a nightly basis, and the doors were so hollow you could hear everything. There was a large gap between the front door to my apartment and the floor. I put my coat there to have a little privacy, that was weird and made me uncomfortable.
The manager, Chris, was a total jerk to me the entire time after I signed the lease. She was all nice and happy go lucky until she got my money. She acted like since I signed a piece of paper that I signed my life away. I'm sorry, but there's black mold in here and that's extremely toxic. Not only is it toxic, but it's even more harmful to a person with bronchitis, which I had. And children, which I had a two year old. The black mold deems this apartment unsafe, and unliveable. This lady had the nerve to tell me it wasn't a big deal! Since then, I have noticed they aren't on rent.com or awesomeapartments.com anymore.
This place was awful. We weren't allowed to park in a certain area because it flooded something about broken pipes...fix them' That's probably why the toilets don't flush! It was dirty, smelled bad, management sucked, the whole works. I left and came back to KC after two weeks.
