Let me start by saying that the apartment building is new, nice, and very clean. I've had no problem with anything except tv/internet. Quarry Ridge claims to offer High-Speed Internet, but you can only get internet through a company called Vision Systems (based out of North Dakota). The fastest connection speed you're going to get is 1Mbit download, which really runs closer to 450Kbps (I tested this using www.speedtest.net). The TV packages DO NOT include any HD programming, so forget about using your HDTV for what it's meant for. If you have the opportunity to work from home via VPN, you won't be able to do that because the connection speeds are so slow. When you sign a lease you can forget about downloading any movies from Netflix, streaming any sort of media (Youtube.com won't load videos fast enough to stream without buffering every few seconds), working from home, watching HD channels, or doing anything that requires a real high speed internet connection. Quarry Ridge is a new building with technology dating back into the '90s. For basic cable, internet, and direct tv (which you can't get HD through either) you'll pay around $150/mo. $150/mo for services that don't even come close to what cable companies offer for under $100.

This is not true. I lived there for a year and anyone is able to get Qwest internet.

Yes, you can get Qwest internet @ 1.5 Mbps to the building. This requires a DSL modem and a 12-month commitment to MSN and Quest. Across the street (and everywhere else in Rochester, MN) you're able to get a 20 Mbps Cable Internet Connection and High-Definition Television programming (no MSN subscription required). Cable is better than DSL (http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-6536_7-726601-4.html?tag=rb_c but the best thing is an option. Why not let there be competition and choice for cable/internet? It seems like someone is making money off the exclusivity of what is offered.
I am in no way saying QR might not be the place for you, I just want people to know you won't have an internet connection faster than 1.5Mbps, which is not sufficient for most things that require a broadband connection. Any other apartment in Rochester, MN will allow you to use Cable Internet and have HDTV, QR does not. Exclusivity is unfair to customers, and illegal (see link below)
