The Projects of NW Rochester

Rochester Village is a horrible place to live. My family lived there for 6 months. We moved in because the management staff raved about how great it was and showed us a "Model" apartment. They did not show us the actual one we'd be living in. The place was disgusting. There was dirt and sticky stuff along the window sills. One bedroom had a terrible odor in it. It was so bad, we couldn't even walk into the room. We went through several bottles of Febreze.
The other residents there are pretty shady. We saw a lot of "quick visits" happening at the neighbors which leads one to believe that there has to be something illegal going on.
There are several (and I mean SEVERAL) children running around the complex without supervision. These kids have language worse than a sailor. It's ridiculous. I could not take my child for a walk through the complex without hearing kids swearing all over and having them crash their bikes into my childs stroller.
There are a lot of creepy people living there. I quickly learned not to go to the laundry center alone after dark to wash clothes. There were creepy men that would just stare at you while you did your laundry.
I think the big problem with Rochester Village is the management. The staff doesn't care about anything. We called maintenance over during the winter because there a huge draft coming in through our windows and in the cracks where the wall meets the floor. The winter draft coming in was enough to make the blinds move. (like when you have the window open on a breezy day). The maintenance man said to me that it's just Minnesota winters and if I didn't like the draft coming in, just go to Menards and buy that plastic window covering and put it on. I thought...that's not my job, it's yours. And no, it's not Minnesota winters. I've lived in Minnesota for years and it's the first time I've seen a draft coming in like that.
The management is so worried about filling their apartments that they do not care who they are allowing to move in. I DID NOT FEEL SAFE living at Rochester Village. A neighbor in our building was actually robbed overnight. This happened way too close to our family for comfort. We knew we had to leave. Just read the part of the newspaper about court and charges. I can almost guarantee there will be at least one person from Rochester Village in there each week who has committed some crime, been caught with drugs, or something. Why do you think they've had to lower their rent price by over a hundred dollars just to get people to move in. Trust me, just don't do it. It's worth the extra rent you may pay elsewhere to stay safe and comfortable. ROCHESTER VILLAGE IS JUST THE GHETTO OF NW ROCHESTER.
