To answer your question...the Department of Planning and Economic Development approved a housing program to issue bonds for 808 Berry Place. They accepted more than $17,000,000 Tax Exempt Housing Revenue Bonds for the development. The next time you look for a place you should understand the dynamics of your building and neighborhood. If you want to find "regular neighbors" you should not live in a gentrified neighborhood. Instead, move to the suburbs and self-select a neighborhood with others who look like you.

Just because someone makes millions and celebrities occupy units at 808 berry what makes you think they are any different from anyone else? Well let me tell you a thing or two. I also reside at 808 berry in a market rate unit and I must say that it's market rate leaseholders who cause most of the problems at 808 berry and not the subsidized units. I get sick of the loud noise, parties, and other -------- that occurs by the persons with money and celebrities. I make roughly 50,000.00 a year and people with subsidies and handicaps deserve to live like all of us no matter what their issue maybe. People on subsidies live well and keep nice homes also. Some people here making good money live nasty and cause problems in the community. Money don't mean ----!!!!! Do your homework you goofy.

just because the people are on section 8 that does not mean that they are "mentally unstable" maybe you are for thinking your better than someone just because you make more money..... i can totally picture you privilged family never had to work a day in your life... yet you probably have more problems then anyone in your building.

There are two very different kinds of rental assistance programs at 808 berry. Section 8 is a rent voucher program, and 808 Berry does not necessarily have a choice in choosing to accept or not accept this and may not even be participating in that program right now. Section 42, however, is an entirely different thing, and 808 berry is comprised of 40% section 42. In exchange for lowered rent amounts, the development company recieves very lucrative tax breaks for participating. This original post does seem to be a very narrow-minded viewpoint. Problems within the community are not limited to those on "section 8" and section 42, and how would one even presume to know who these people are anyways?! It seems like the real issue at hand is diversity, not the MEDIAN level income housing (it is not even low income housing). My suggestion would be to not live in an urban area if you are not ok with many different types of people. Better yet, don't live in an apartment building at all! It is very difficult to find apartments without some component of this -- especially new development luxury apartments, i'm sorry to tell you.
