This place has gone down hill

I lived in 808 Berry Place for 2 years and saw it get worse over both years. First, this place charges a ridiculous amount for rent unless you live in one of their section 8 / section 42 subsidized "luxury" apartment rooms. If you don't mind spending 5x more than your neighbor then maybe this place is for you. Also, the noise is pretty annoying on friday/saturday nights; I swear B96 was at the apartment every friday night broadcasting from either the community room or from the tricked out 1988 Lincoln outside, vibrating trunk and all. Also, be prepared to have things break and not be fixed for months. At one point one of the treadmills was broken and didn't get the replacement part for about 6 weeks! Lastly, don't plan to have anything in your "storage" area in front of your parking spot. They will remove anything you own that is not in one of their cages (which they charge you for). This is a new policy within the last few months, and is representative of the recent management change. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

Too bad about this place; it started out on the right foot, but it's too close to the U of M, and there are just a few bad apple college kids who bring the whole bunch down :(

seems to me they need to drop the section 42 stuff to make that place less ghetto poppin. i feel bad for anyone who has to listen to that garbage all night. you pay top dollar to live in a place the least you can expect is some quiet nights!

808 Berry has fallen but it has nothing to do with tax credit units. From what I have noticed a lot of the problems are with market rate units so don't blame some of the units that are tax credit/Sec8. I have a tax credit unit and also work hard everyday and I don't cause problems for ANYONE! So as far as you talking about the community getting rid of tax credit to make it less ghetto poppin you need to do your homework before running your mouth. A huge majority of residents whom are ghetto pays market rent. BIIIIOTCH!!!!!

People are so ignorant everywhere you go. always assuming that those with money act proper and those without are "ghetto" "listen to loud music (b96)" and are "a problem". Section 40 apartments also known as the tax credit apartments are in the best interest of the owners. The people that live in those apartments are wanted and sought after so the owners can get a tax break. The difference in rent is about $200-$300, not double as someone suggested. bottom line don't be ignorant and dumb makes you look like a moron.
