Especially bad move out experience

This property did not provide a rental value in line with the rent charged. My roommate and I wanted to move to a more reasonable place for several reasons including: poor security, poor staff responses, poor wiring (we had to have maintenance come and fix several outlets that wouldn't reset with fuse box because they weren't wired into the fuse box) and better value. Not withstanding the prior issues I had with the place the move out experience was horrible.
-I moved out at the end of a month along with several other tenants, so the street outside and the elevators were quite busy. On the day of the move they decided it would be a good idea to do major landscaping. Their contractors proceed to dump a huge pile of manure infused wood-chips into the small side street closest to my unit. This effectively blocked the street at several points in the day and spread manure dust in all of my belongings and among the others who were attempting to move out. A considerate management group would have scheduled this maintenance to occur when a lot of their tenants were not moving personal items in and out of the building. A tenant here should expect poorly scheduled maintenance.
-I didn't have time to get a carpet cleaner into my apartment, and was prepared to pay the carpet cleaning cost quoted in the move-out manual that was provided. Instead when I came back the next day to drop off my keys I was told that the carpet would have to be replaced. This decision was made after a quick walk-through by one of the property's staff and before any effort had been made to see if it could be cleaned. If you move here I would figure the cost of carpet replacement into your rent comparisons because they seem more interested in replacing it than cleaning. -And when I saw the charges they made for 'damages' it is no wonder they want to change your carpet. For what couldn't have been more than 600' sq ft that was left needing cleaning they charged > $2000. With those kinds of markups I am sure they property makes a premium when carpet has to be replaced. I was also charged $50 each for 'dirty' bathrooms that my roommate and I had each spent at least an hour cleaning (hot water, pine sol, windex on mirrors, soap scum remover on tub, thorough wipe downs, etc.), as well as $50 for cleaning the oven.
All in all I would highly recommend you live elsewhere.
