TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT AND MAINTENANCE!

They have accessed my particular apartment at least 8 times in the last three months, beyond what I have called them for, with the latest and greatest being to replace the bedroom windows in late November. I came home from work at 10:30 pm, to my garden level apartment none the less, to find the lights were left on all day and there were no window coverings on my bedroom windows. Anyone walking up and down the street had a clear view of everything in my unit, night or day. When I called the after-hours maintenance, they gave me attitude and told me there was nothing they could do about it.
Going back to maintenance having accessed my apartment more than a few times... I may as well ask them to put a revolving door on my unit. They have more than violated my privacy in the last few months.
I have had water dripping from my bathroom ceiling for at least seven months now. I have been complaining about it constantly, and nothing has been done about it. Maintenance left a note in my door telling me to check to see if my neighbors were taking a shower when I noticed the leak because they may not have had the shower curtain in the tub. Regardless of whether or not they had the shower curtain in the tub, it shouldn't be leaking into my apartment. Needless to say, it still leaks.
My fridge broke last year over the weekend. I called the after-hours maintenance and they said they would be out later that afternoon. I stayed home, and no one showed up. They finally showed up two days later to tell me that they had to order a new fridge. Based upon their "48-hour maintenance policy", I had my new fridge 5 days after my complaint.
My favorite incident, if nothing else made your jaw drop, was when the boiler heat broke. It was over 106 degrees in my apartment with all of the windows open in the dead of winter. When I called after-hours maintenance, I was told it wasn't an after-hours issue. I spoke with other residents about it and they said their floor was so hot they couldn't walk across it.
There was another time the boiler heat broke sometime in February and my apartment was 54 degrees for four days straight. At 54 degrees, there is nothing the after-hour maintenance can do about it, because 54 degrees is there cut off.
If you like house centipedes, my unit is infested with them.
The parking is terrible! The snow removal policy for the alley parking that I have states that snow will only be removed if there was an accumulation of more than one inch, and snow will only be removed Monday through Friday. For those of you not from here, it doesn't just snow Monday through Friday. There have been numerous times that I have had to shovel my own parking space over the weekend.
Since we are talking about parking, I need to point out that I pay $50 a month for a parking space that seems to be used by either the At Home Apartments staff or Comcast. There was a period of a week where At Home Apartments had a manlift parked in my space, at my expense. When you call the number for a tow listed on the side of the building, they say that management has to call it in, so if the office is closed, you have no parking spot for that night.
For those that are lucky enough to have a parking space near a garbage dumpster, I need to point out that the garbage dumpsters are not secured. There have been a number of times I have come out to my car and seen that the garbage dumpster had rolled down the parking slope and into the alley. The gentleman that parks nearest the dumpsters at my complex fears that the dumpster is going to roll into his BMW one day.
Shall I continue'''
Overall, if you rent here after reading this and the other reviews, I won't feel sorry for you. You know what you're getting yourself into. Thank God I am moving in a few months!

I also had a bad experience living in At Home Apartments, but my problem was that my apartment on Dale Street was way too hot in the winter...so much so that I worried it might be a fire hazard. As far as your 54 degree apartment, please realize that under Minnesota law, a landlord is required to keep the apartment set at no less than 68 degrees. If they told you that 54 degrees is their cut off, they are violating the law. I have heard that in St. Paul it is possible to contact city hall and request that an inspector come to inspect an apartment building. As far as your privacy issue, yes they violated my privacy as well...just wait until you move out. During the last two weeks of your lease, maintenance will think they have a right to be in your apartment for a two week period from 8 to 5 daily so that they can make repairs in order to rent the apartment to someone else the day after you move out. This is what happened to me -- before my lease was up, maintenance came into my apartment with ladders, paint, etc. and even shut off the shower water for days in order to make repairs in the bathtub. But specifically with regard to your privacy issue, there is a statute in Minnesota that requires a landlord to give a tenant reasonable notice prior to entering the apartment. Reasonable notice is typically interpreted as 24 hours. I have used the Homeline website to download a form letter to give to landlords regarding this statute and consequences of violating it.

I am glad to know that I'm not completely crazy, and that other people have some of the concerns I have. Well, I wish this wasn't a problem for us at all, but there is strength in numbers. I'll be writing my own review and adding pictures in a few days.
I just had an inspector come to my apartment today. He fixed some things himself and said that my apartment is a D- (almost failing) but that he's worried about it. He said I should stay in contact with homeline and the inspector's office. GET ST. PAUL INSPECTORS TO COME OUT. THEY WILL BE OUT WITHIN 24 HOURS. THE NUMBER IS (651)266-9090.
