Boulder Ridge

This apartment complex has the worst management of any place I've ever lived. The first issue happened when I got my first electricity bill. It had more usage per day than a previous 3 br/2bath house I lived in during the summer while running the AC. In looking into how that could be, I find out that there is a garage used by the maintenance people that is wired to my unit. The high electricity usage was due to a portable space heater being run 24 hours a day to keep this garage heated. I let the management know about this, and turned the circuit breaker to the garage off (located in my unit) since I deem this a serious fire hazard. The response I get from management is that I need to turn it back on immediately and they'll hold me responsible for any damaged materials in the garage due to cold. I only got them to back off on that after contacting the fire marshall and pointing out to them that they were violating the state fire code. Seriously, how dense to you have to be to run a portable electric heater 24 hours a day mostly unattended... After finally getting that worked out along with a suitable arrangement for the high electricity bills, there were still several other issues. First, there is very little parking. We were promised one reserved spot, but it was very often used by people working at the apartment complex (we were constantly having to ask people to move their car). Their excuse was "we told you that we needed the space during the day", which was total BS. They hadn't told us that and we were gone during the day and finding people parked there after 5:00 PM... Next, the apartment grounds are disgusting. They supposedly have a pick up after your dog rule, but it's not enforced at all. After the snow melted in the spring, it was literally a mine field. Next, they don't enforce any of the rules regarding use of the parking lot that are outlined in the lease. Once the weather starting warming up in the spring, there were constantly kids riding bikes/skateboards/etc. in the parking lot itself, which made it really annoying to get in and out.
Finally, to top it off, we were robbed. I'm not sure how it happened, since there was no broken window, door latch, or anything else. I would highly recommend renting elsewhere...

In my haste to submit the review, I forgot one thing. This apartment complex bills for water/sewer/trash service through a company called AUM. I received a bill today from AUM for the month AFTER I moved out. Apparently, Boulder Ridge was supposed to notify AUM that I no longer live there, but in keeping consistent with the incompetence we've come to except from the management, neglected to do so. So, I had to contact them today to "remind" them. Luckily, this is what reminded me to post this rating. Thanks a lot Boulder Ridge!
