Dangerous!

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2007
Myself and my roommate, two young college girls have lived at the Burlington for a little over 2 years. In that time we had our apartment crowbarred in the middle of the night because the property allowed the Star Tribune to leave free copies of their paper on our doorstep. After 2 nights, apparently someone thought we weren't home and took a crowbar to our deadbolt. The first thing we did was call the police and the emergency maintainence line. The police showed up, but we got no answer from The Burlington, and no answering machine, until we were able to go to the office when they opened at noon. We couldn't even lock our door they broke the lock so badly. There are no working security cameras, and all management did was give us a door from a vacant apartment almost 10 hours later, which had similar break-in marks. 3 months later, my boyfriend left his truck in the parking lot overnight, during which time someone through a cement slab through his windshield. All the management did was tell us not to leave valuables in our cars. About 2 months ago, someone once again smashed the passenger side window in of his truck, as well as the car next to his, and stole over $200 worth of tools. Again, management said that our property was not their responsibility even on their grounds. We asked to be let out of our lease as it was the third incident in a year, and we were told it would cost $2,048 and 60-days notice, without even an apology. When we moved in they had only a handful of vacant apartments, when we gave our notice last week, they had a few dozen. Storage lockers get broken into almost weekly, and the police tell me every time that nothing can be done because the Burlington doesn't have any time of security system.
Maintainance is another issue. It has taken days, sometimes even weeks to get a repair, serious or not, taken care of. We had an overflowing toilet that be the time they got to it, we already had an outside plumber come in to fix it; and that repair was on their "emergency" list.
The jacuzzi has not had water in it since one week after we moved in, over 2 years ago.
I have not felt safe in my own home for over a year now, and this apartment complex has done nothing but send out fliers warning residents not to leave valuables in their cars. I would not recommend this apartment to anyone; I lived in the heart of L.A. for 8 years, and did not suffer this kind of neglect and danger.
