Not bad...

I'm not management, I'm not an investor... I'm a college student at the U of M who CHOOSES to live here. When we moved in (I live with my boyfriend who works in the Energy Park Area) they gave us the option of new carpeting and paint job, which we took. We were also placed origianlly in the back building (by the train tracks) but when we asked AFTER signing the lease if we could move, they immediately drew up a new lease. If you know you are going to have a problem with the noise, pick a different building... we have a small dog so had the choice of two buildings. We took the one where the train wasn't in our back yard and have had no problems. Two days after we moved in, we had a list of things we weren't happy about (the shower temp, the windows were off tracks, and the dishwasher thing on the bottom came off whenever you ran it) and we called the office, two hours later, everything, EVERYTHING was fixed. Since we moved in, we've complained about the other "college kids acting like its' a frat house" as well as ants leaking in from our neighbors apartment. Ants were fixed right away, but they did have to come back a second time to spray, and we havent heard from our neighbors since. We've only lived here six months, but for the price, it isn't bad. We looked at other places for the same amount that were seriously in the worst part of town. Like the building next to the one we looked at was condemmed, a drunk guy riding a bike down the middle of the road at 11 AM, the people in an apartment we walked by on the way to look at the unit we would be living in sounded like they were beating each other... Yes, the hot tub in the 1170 building isn't filled (i dont know about the other buildings, I live in 1170) but other than that, no complaints. All the washer/driers work, but aren't always open (oh my gosh, i have to climb a flight of stairs to use an open one, and in a house you wouldn't have to go to the basement or whatever...).
Of all the complaints I've read, besides the security which I have no comment on because have never had anything happen to either of our cars (I drive a 2006 acura, and my boyfriend has a 2004 infiniti, so they would be easy targets for ipods, clothes, whatever else...) the only negative is the hot tub. Exercise room is fine, it isn't a full gym, but has 2 treadmills, 3 bikes, elliptical, free weights. The people complaining who want quiet, fast maintenance, etc, but a house. Then you can only blame yourself for the noise and can have fun paying someone to show up to fix your sink right after you call. Sorry to be sarcastic, but for a St. Paul apartment where you pay $1150 for a 2-bed, 2-bath, I think its fine.
