I'm going on 3 years here and I have to say that I don't envy the management of these buildings. The biggest problem are some of the people who live here and do not respect that fact that what they do affects others. Most of the problems are caused by tenants who leave trash blowing around the grounds, prop doors open which effectively negates any security features the buildings may have, improperly look after their pets, etc. If everyone who lives here would follow the simple rules and respect their fellow tenants, management would have more time to respond to the minor complaints that people may have. Look at some of the comments on other apartment complexes in and around St. Paul and you may find that this isn't such a bad place to live. They work hard to make the grounds look nice. They have a wonderful maintenance crew that work hard to keep up with repairs. I've never had a problem with the people in the office. They've always been nice, courteous, and responsive. My problem is with inconsiderate people who make noise in the parking lots at 3:00 in the morning, in the hallways at all hours, who don't pick up after their pets, and put us all at risk by leaving doors open and allowing people into the buildings that don't belong. Neigbors who re-pot their plants on their balconies and allow the excess dirt to pile up on the balcony below, but up bird feeders allowing the seed to fall through the balconies and mess up the ones below, leave their belongings in the hallway outside their doors, play their music so loud it pounds through your apartment, drop kleenex in the hallway or stairwell and don't bother to pick it up. The good thing is, these people don't last long here, so be patient and they'll move out eventually.

One of the biggest problems is the tennants. However, The Burlington accepts section 8 housing. You get what you get. While people who need assistance are not all bad, it seems that The Burlington has a knack for accepting tennants who put on a "good front".
As for the staff, you must not have had to deal with them very often, or you've caught them on good days. I would say 9 times out of 10, I had to leave multiple voice mails or emails regarding maintenance issues. One time in particular, my apartment door knob came off while I was entering my apartment and it took 2 days for anyone to return my call, let alone actually fix it.
I'm glad you're having a positive experience at The Burlington, but there's a reason why most tennants don't last more than a year... and it's not necessarily because THEY are the bad ones.
