DON'T DO IT!

This place is awful...the management is terrible to deal with. They are not willing to help you out with any issues at all. They also tell you one thing and then do another. They have a lot of security issues and I've found evidence of someone being in my apartment on more than one occasion. When I asked management about it they didn't have an answer for me. I ended up buying out of my lease and paying the penalty because I was so uncomfortable.
Parking is a nightmare...they don't regulate who parks there so anyone can park int the lot. I can't count the number of times I've needed to leave for work in the morning and there's a car parked behind me and I can barely get out of my parking spot.
On the weekends...be prepared. There's trash in the hallways and near the entrance and just about every weekend the trash chute gets jammed and litterally people trashbags are piled as tall as the doorway to the trash room and are overflowing out into the hall. Disgusting!
Don't move in here unless you don't care if you live in a dirty apartment complex that anyone from the street can enter the buildings through the propped open doors or broken doors or stolen keys.
Worse place I've ever lived...don't waste your time and money!!!

Here we go again. I have been living in the Burlington Apartments going on three years. I have NEVER had any of the mentioned issues. It is also interesting that all negative feedback gets posted as anonymous. What are you trying to hide? What proof do you have that someone entered your apartment? Was the police called and a report filed? Was there an attempt to get fingerprints? I have to agree with the last poster. It seems that all these complaints come from new college students. (Well, we have to assume since all posts are anonymous.) Yes, there are issues - it is an apartment community, if you don't like rent a house.

i agree with user ajeffcoat... and i'm not trying to generalize, I just graduated a year ago, but it seems all the problems start when the college kids come back. I know one school uses the Burlington as "dorm housing", but it doesn't mean you should treat it as such. It always seems in late august/early september is when things get broken, beer bottles get left around, and there is running and playful screaming coming from the hallways at 3 in the morning. I have lived here 2 years, and have typical apartment complaints (but again, rent a house if you can't deal with it), but feel I have been treated very well if I have brought a problem up with management. They've also been very understanding with personal problems. One month my boyfriend (who lives there with me) had his father die so we accidently missed rent, and paid on the 4th or something, but they waived the late fee when we went to the office and told what happened. Then it happened a second time, we were just busy and forgot, and we went to them and apologized, not even looking to get the late fee waived for a second time, but they were very kind and understanding and even waived the late fee, even though they had done it like 2 months prior when my boyfriends dad died. Yes, parking is kind of a hassle, but if it is such a big deal for you, pay the extra $50/month and get your own indoor space. Its nicer to go to in the summer and winter anyways... I'm a young renter and feel bad that my age group is proving to be a pain in the behind. Yes, it has a few issues, but overall this has been a wonderful experience!

Just so we're on the same page, I posted this review back in 2007. I wasn't a college student, I was 25 years old and very responsible. I actually attended Winona State University and moved to St. Paul a few years later.
If you honestly didn't notice any of the crap going on in that place then you were either the one participating in the shitshow or you were living under a rock. I've since lived in two other apartments and haven't encountered anything remotely close to what I experience there.
And why would I need to have the police look for finger prints to prove someone was in there. I'd say that open drawers, blinds open that were closed, and clothes that were in the dryer laying on the floor is enough evidence. Don't you think?? I lived alone, it was pretty obvious. But, maybe it wouldn't be to someone like you??
Thanks for the stereotyping though...much appreciated!
Oh, and by the way, I do submit anonymously to hide my identity. I'd gladly give my full name but the last thing I want is some whack-job like you knowing who I really am!!
