Kellogg Concentration Camp

Don t expect to get treated fairly here just because you always pay your rent on time, never bother your neighbors, and are a serious professional in your career. Sentinal management and Marsha run this concentration camp and they only want you to shut up and sign contracts with hidden agendas to steal your original security deposit and force you to pay back any move in specials you receive. If you have any serious concerns or requests, you will be treated like a criminal. When I first moved in I could hear my neighbor s clock radio and even hear her speak when I was in my bedroom. I couldn t hear my neighbor on the other side and she was not being loud so I thought it had something to do with being right next to the elevators on the one side. Maybe they couldn t put the same sound proofing in my bedroom walls because they wrap around the elevators. Whatever the reason, since it was the first day, I thought it would be reasonable to request a transfer to a different available apartment. I hadn t signed the final paperwork because I had to work that day while movers put my stuff in the apartment. It is also in the lease that as long as you transfer to a slightly more expensive apartment they will accommodate the move. I went to talk to Marsha and she made it very clear that she would not work with me on any such request. Instead, she sprang an asbestos waiver on me to sign and told me tough luck. Since I already had my stuff in the apartment I had no choice but to live with it. Luckily, my neighbor turned out to be very understanding and she moved her clock radio away from the wall and was very quiet after I talked to her. Unfortunately, because of my request and some arguing I did, I was already on the manager, Marsha s, naughty list. Recently I made the decision to move. In my haste, I hand wrote a notice to vacate early from my lease because I have a 60 day addendum. I received a letter that said they were sorry to see me go, I thought that was nice, and I was very cooperative while they showed my apartment. Shortly after, I found I needed to stay a while longer. My apartment had already been rented but I asked if there were other apartments available to transfer to. Marsha lied to me and said there was nothing available. I argued with her on this point because I knew she was not working with me because of my requests when I first moved in. Later that day, I went to the office to fill my laundry card and overheard that apartment 1110 was available from another office worker. I told her my situation and she immediately agreed to let me move into that apartment. She said they do things like that all the time. I told her that Marsha does not like me and asked if there was any way she could prevent me from taking the apartment. She assured me there was no way Marsha could prevent it. Yet, on Monday, I called the office to arrange a time to finalize the paperwork and the office worker told me that Marsha would not allow me to transfer to the other apartment. She told me, I would be happier somewhere else. She obviously holds a grudge. That may be presumptuous but she is the only landlord I have ever had a problem with. Marsha told me to call the owner of Sentinal management if I didn t like it. I called the owner of Sentinal management and she told me to get a lawyer if I didn t like it. So now, I have found another apartment at the Cosmopolitan but Kellogg expects me to pay back $885 dollars for my initial rent special and they are keeping my $400 dollar security deposit even though I wanted to stay and they let people transfer apartments all the time. I am also worried what other money they are going to try to get out of me. I received a checklist that needs to be finished before I move out or I could end up owing over a $1000 dollars. Apparently if a cupboard isn t dusted I will owe $50 dollars. Another notice says I will incur a fee of $250 dollars for every hour I stay after noon on August 31st. I don t know what makes them think they can treat honest professionals this way, but I hope this review helps to change their behavior.
