Lakeshore Oaks

I have lived here since 2007 and it has been up and down since I moved in. The latest office staff is attempting to turn this place around, but they continue to rent to people who are somewhat less than desirable. There is supposed to be restrictions on the type of dogs that are allowed, but there are many aggressive dogs in my building. Also, my "neighbors" do not clean up after their dogs. Part of this problem is the owner's fault -- i.e., they simply do not clean up. Part of this is the fault of management -- i.e., there are never doggie waste bags available and the walking area is filthy and not maintained in any way. It is no wonder people don't want to walk their dogs in the designated area. There is literally dog waste everywhere right now. In fact, we gave up our pet because there was not a decent place to walk her in the area without exposing her to disease. We also have new neighbors who seem to smoke 24-7. The hallways reek of cigarette smoke. And, our newest neighbors have begun leaving their garbage in the hallways until they feel like walking it down the stairs to the dumpsters. Really people. If you don't want to look at it, why would I want to see and smell it in the hallway. That said, I have also met some wonderful neighbors who watch out for each other, invite each other over for dinner, and pet sit for each other. There are not many apartment complexes where you will find that added bonus. We also just received new washers and dryers on each floor. The price went up to $1.75 to wash and dry, but the machines are much larger and you can combine loads that would have required multiple machines before. I will continue to rent here until my daughter graduates from high school -- the only reason we are staying here. This complex is one of the few located in Shoreview which allows my daughter to receive a top notch education. Otherwise, we would be out of here in a heartbeat.
