Nothing special, but not bad in 1994-95

Years at this apartment: 1994 - 1995
I lived at Lauderale Hollows (that's what it was called then)--the ones on Carl Street off of Larpenteur--and I thought it was pretty good for student housing. Of course, that was 10 years ago back in 1994-95, so my opinion is worth what you paid for it. The management company back then was Mid-Continent.
I had a nice 1 BR with new carpeting and some newish appliances. It was a cute little apartment. The prior tenants had torn it up some and I decided to rent it because the apartment manager had said it would get new carpeting and that it would be overhauled--and low-and-behold, it was, and it felt like an almost new apartment. (That having been said--never, never trust apartment management to do anything unless it's written into the contract, and even then it's hard to trust anyone in this business.)
Overall, I don't think these apartments are anything special. My unit was very nice, but that was probably luck and a unique situation. I thought the people who lived there were decent. They are older construction buildings and the parking lots aren't the greatest, but when I lived there I never had any problems and I could always find parking in the back lot if I had to. It was also bug free. It was a nice place to hang my hat back when I was a graduate student at the St. Paul campus.
As with all student housing, unless you need to be real close to campus or within a one mile walk, you can probably do better for the money by looking a couple miles outside of the student area.
When I lived there I used to walk from the back parking lot onto an old railbed and into a nice subdivision. It was a pleasant route. I hope it's still open.
