Lived here for a couple of years out of school. Overall, it wasn't too bad, especially considering how close to Saint Paul it was (about a block from I-94 and a 10 minute drive into downtown). The workout room is pretty good, the pool is nice, and the staff was generally helpful, although a bit annoying about petty rules sometimes. I never had a problem finding a place to park in the lots, and most of the time we were right by our apartment.

My neighbors were generally friendly blue collar folks. We had one or two loud and annoying ones but they didn't last long. Met a really good friend there; a lot of the tenants are fresh graduates or older people.

Make sure you keep an eye on your car when they are plowing the parking lot. They post plowing notices, and the are not kidding when they say your car will be towed. Never happened to me but I saw a lot of cars getting moved.

My biggest complaint would be the crime. We had cops rolling through quite a lot, random people walking through, and I had my car stereo stolen. Several of my neighbors also had their cars broken into; one had his stolen. The cops generally don't do much for this stuff; they have bigger fish to fry.

It was also a bit annoying to have to pay for a garage (although it was a big one). If you are going to rent a garage, you either have to share with someone or rent both spaces. I rented both.

I also did not like the steep increase in rent from year to year. The place was kind of small, and it wasn't worth staying there after a couple of years.

Heat is included, which was awesome. I hate paying for heat in the winter.

If you need a fairly cheap place close to the city, this isn't a bad deal.

My husband and I have lived hear for a year and were really excited to sign another year lease. The office staff and our caretaker are AMAZING!!! Friendly, professional, and polite. As for crime, there have only been a few incidents but you are going to get that anywhere. Mayberry does not exist anymore. Sorry. Management has gone above and beyond to ensure the safety and well being of the residents. They have installed security cameras and I still see the security vehicle drive through the parking lot when I've come home from work. I dont know about you? But it makes me feel better about coming home late at night from work and that management cares about the resident's safety. These apartments are not small by any means. We have a one bedroom with plenty of furniture and we still have tons more room. The price is right for the size of the apartments. I really wish we would have known about McKnight Village sooner, we would have never wasted the time we have been at other apartments. There is also no steep increase in rent from year to year. It is very little to none. If you want a place to call home and feel safe, this is the place to be. We love it!!!!

Re: steep increase of rent from year to year - I experienced the same thing. Since I moved in under a special, my rent was increased by $25 per month each year when my lease was renewed to bring my rent back up to what they thought my apartment was really worth. $25 per month doesn't sound like a lot, but by the time I left I was paying almost $1000 per year more than when I moved in. I'm guessing the poster of the original comment experienced the same thing.

**ALERT** Future Tenants be aware that this WAS a Premiere Property until the new leasing manager took over in Sept. 2007. This property has had a steady increase of Police calls for various drug reports as well as indecent behavior including but not limited to minor alcohol consumption on the exterior grounds of the property. All reports from tenants are ignored. I am being retaliated against for my reporting that activity on the property. I have been a renter here for 4 years and am being threatened with eviction for just protecting our property! Last I checked it was my right! IF YOU HAVE HAD A SIMILAR ON ANY BAD EXPERIENCE WITH BT&A CONSTRUCTION PLEASE CALL LAURIE AT THE CHANNEL 9 NEWS DESK AT 952-946-5767 AND REPORT YOUR STORY AND EXPERIENCE WITH HER TO VALIDATE THESE CLAIMS AND OUR INTEGRITY AS RENTERS!!! I AM STARTING PROCEEDINGS AGAINST THESE PEOPLE FOR DISCRIMINATION, RETALIATION, ETHICS VIOLATIONS, AND OVERALL POOR TREATMENT OF GOOD RENTERS!!! iF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR A STORY TO SHARE CALL JJ AT 612-598-0890
