I currently live at McKnight Village Apartments. I have read all of these reviews and have to laugh at some of them. Bed Bugs...Come on! Everyone knows if you get bed bugs, you bring them in yourself. As for Mice, it's winter...everyone on the planet has mice. Even if you live in your own home you'll get mice. This place was built in 1969. You can't expect to have perfection when the place is almost 40 yrs old! Some of the rules seem strick but when you think about it, there are 540 apartments here, if everyone brought more then 2 guests to the pool you could have an entire town trying to swim! As for crime, I have friends on the police force that say the crime rate is next to nothing at McKnight compared to surrounding apartment complexes. With a place this big you can't expect that nothing is ever going to happen. I think the staff is very helpful. Maintenance is on top of all of the proplems including snow plowing! All in all, you can't beat the rent you are paying for the space you are getting. One of my neighbors has lived here since this place was built. I would have to say that if someone has lived here for 30 years, it obviously is a good place to live!

I am always amazed that some individuals can't accept the truth about another tenants experience of this rental property. I can tell you that , as a current tenant I have experienced prolonged pest control problems. Silverfish and centipedes should not exist in a rental unit or in any area of an apartment building. Mice infestation was an issue spring of 2006, a notice was sent out to each building about that problem . A thorough cleaning of each & every unit, including common areas is needed to ELIMINATE pest issues. The complex & buildings are outdated, & need an updated water heater, including improvement of water quality & increased water pressure in the apartments. Further, a property management company's goal is to increase their profit margin and put money in the owner's pocket. Unfortunately, rent controls don't exist and other avenues tenants have to advocate for themselves, other than documentation and Concillation Court are the only means we have to get the property management company to comply with state & federal laws. Report these issues to your local housing authority ( county office ). Crime is an issue in this area, it is not unreasonable to expect a safe living environment. My building reeks of "pot", yet no one complains or calls the office. The caretaker's should be addressing these issues ! Noise complaints about other tenants are ignored by the office ! If we all want a better place to live, speak out, pitch in & help make improvements of rental property for everyone !

After reading some of these reviews I gotta laugh. You can tell who's an upset resident VERS which comments/reviews are from staff/matenance. Either way everyone's entitled to there own option. Who are you say if someone's happy or not were they live. I'm also a resident of McKnight and for the most part it's an OK place to live, but with that being said there's also a LOT that can be done to make it even better. I do tend to agree that some of the office staff are not very personable and almost bitchy at times. Now re: Thief there's been quite a bit here that I even know of. I also know it's not always if ever relayed to residents when it does occur. To me any crime is tooo much... It's doesn't matter how much happens down the street or up the block I'm concern about my residents and to say it’s low doesn’t help me sleep any better. A good suggestion would be to have a comment box that residents could use anonymously then based on the number of responses/comments/suggestions address those issues. I would also like to see some kind of residents party/gathering were you could actually meet some of your neighbors. Just a thought. Gotta run more important things going on in life. Enjoy ~ME~

As for the crime it has increased in the last 3 years. This review is a joke. Some people just do not care about what happens around them and stay forever. Maintenance is not always on top of it. I had my air go out when we were hitting the 100 degree mark this summer and it took them 3 days to get me a new one. That is not good when someone is soaking through their garments and someone should not have to leave until they fix the problem. When they got me the air, the remote on it said that it was 120 degrees in my apartment. I have lived her for 6 years and have seen how it has gone from good to bad. Someone who has not even lived here a year can not really comment and know how it use to be compared to now. Plus that person probably moved here when the new manager started and it was a lot different with the old managers.

This review was clearly posted by a staffer or someone hired by the management company. There is no excuse for a rodent infestation in any housing, especially in this part of the country. If you listen to the vents in the hallways, you can hear rodents screeching and scurrying in the walls. Also, the centipede and silver fish situation every spring and fall is absurd. As far as the “pot” complaint, I don’t care what people do in their apartments, as long as it doesn’t bother me. What does bother me is the unreasonable noise at any and all hours of the day or night. Yelling, slamming doors and subwoofers are a constant. As far as the “plowing”, it would be much easier for residents to get their cars out on the road if the management wouldn’t plow huge drifts in behind all the parking spaces. It takes much more time to dig out from the “plowing” than it would to simply drive on top of the snow. A few years ago this place was nice. It isn’t anymore. I’m looking for someplace else.
