Whew!

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
I moved to Montreal Court a couple years back, and the first couple of months, it was fine. My apt. wasn't exactly the definition of luxury, but it's what I could afford at the time. Now that I can afford something better, I'm relieved that I left. For one thing, after a couple months, I had new neighbors above me who were constantly running and stomping around like they owned the place. It got so bad that I almost saw no need for an alarm clock because the circus act above me took care of that. Very difficult to get any peace and quiet.
Also, get used to the fire dept. and the police being around. It is not a safe neighborhood to be in. Lots of crime, and the fire alarms seem like they're constantly going off, whether in your building or in a neighboring building.
Watch out for boxelder bugs. Even in the middle of winter, they keep getting in somehow. Extremely annoying.
There is nothing even remotely modern in any of the apartments. Nearly everything needs to be upgraded, and all management could think to do was to install new mail boxes (like that was going to be enough to inspire me to renew my lease). The locks in the entrance to my building kept breaking, so some days, it was like a crapshoot trying to find a door that would actually unlock when I used my key. There's no shortage of closet space in the apartments, I'll grant you that, but other than that, I didn't find any real redeeming qualities there.
The parking lots are way too cramped, mostly because that's where they put the garbage bins. At least a half dozen potential parking spots wasted in each lot because they could find no place else for us to toss our garbage out. Watch out for potholes, too. There are tons of them.
Montreal Court is cheap, no doubt, but I think I've made clear why it's cheap. Where I'm at now is $120 more per month, but NONE of these problems exist where I'm at now. I'll pay extra if I have to in order to get a higher standard of living, which is something Montreal Court doesn't have.
