Yo!

Not A Wise Choice....

I've read all the other reviews for the apartment and they all are at least a few years old. I wish I would have read these and been aware of this site before I moved in here! Yes, Pondview does have a beautiful view of a pond and small nature perserve, but it comes with a price. We pay twenty (') more dollars a month to face the outside and not the parking lot where kids are free to run wild and scream their heads off from early morning to late at night.
When we were searching for a new apartment we were looking for a nice peaceful place that was safe and well kept up. It was beautiful when we looked at it--a gorgeous spanish look--and it appeared quite and serene--but that was I beleive because we looked at it at ten in the morning in the week when no one was around. Needless to say, it is not quite and serene. When we orginally looked at it we were quoted a different price, but when we came back to sign the papers the manager told us one of the workers had given us the amount for a smaller apartment. At this time we had no choice but to sign becuase we had given out two month notice at our other apartment and had no time to look elsewhere. What a joke!
But, that was the old management. Now, we have a new management who is supposedly supposed to be better. Yes the lady at the desk is ready with a smile, but forget everything else. You want something fixed' Ha! Air conditioner not working with a 90 degree weather stretch in full swing, a small child in the apartment and a 7 month pregnant woman--we'll add you to the list--and you'll see them in few days, and you might get it fixed. Also, we've had nothing but trouble with the plumbing since we moved in. And, they do not honor all the things promised in the original contract with the old management. Want to renew your lease' They offer rewards for this, but you'll be lucky if you see those light fixtures, or the carpet washing promised. Our rent was rasied $10 this year for a 12 month lease. If you want a 7 month lease it goes up $35, and a smaller one is almost dowble that. Many apartments have programs to help their residents in buying a home or encourage it, but this place makes it hard to move out and hard to save.
Pets---the deposit is $250 twice, one refundable, one non. Our neighbor moved in a few months back and she has two cats they may her pay this for each cat! Dogs, are now excepted here, actually a lot of people pick up after their dogs, its the goose poop you have to watch out for.
And as far as the construction that others have mentioned--what a headache! It took them forever to get the job done. The workers were friendly, the company owned by the owner of this apartment, (as is the many other services offered here), but it was a horrible process. I had the pleasure of being on the experimental side of the building where they were for two whole months hamering away. I asked managment for a discount in rent and they refused....And now our beautiful spanish villa looks like a run-down slum. ---With loud, rude people moving in--smoking in hallways on decks, not to mentioned break ins in the garages and laundry machines not working.
Anyways, I never would refer this apartment to anyone else. It is placed on a beautiful spot, but the rent is too high (I have compared this with other similar apartments, but they also offer a club house, exercise room, party room, dog run, playground, a LARGE pool --not one that is green like last year -- for less than even we pay), neighbors becoming lousy, kids uncontrolable with small parties outside when their parents are not home, smoky hallways entering homes, and silver fish everywhere and bad plumbing. You make the decision--GOOD LUCK!
Oh, I will add one good thing about this apartment, they started with a dew community activities last year, which include walks, movies, national night out, etc.
