I used to live at Galtier Towers, but recently bought a condo. I was poking around the web and found this site and thought the building deserved some kudos.
I had a small 1BR apartment that , although I wished was bigger for the money I was paying, had the beautiful view that I wanted (perched right over the trees of Mears Park). The building is in a great, convenient location where I walked 2 blocks to the Farmers Market every weekend in the summer. When it all shook out at the end of the day, I was living in a QUIET place that I could still afford, and the main things I wanted were right there. If I wanted to spend less money there are nine million other places to go, but it was very worth it.
I had a couple maintenance concerns while there that got addressed within a day or two, and they weren't even big deals. I figured I would be waiting a week...this place has almost 400 apartments and I thought for sure that my closet door coming off the track would have to wait a while. But it didn't...and the person that came to fix was super nice.
Anyway, I just moved out this summer and I totally miss the staff and services. The Concierge will water your plants if you're out of town, deliver groceries to your door, and she got me great tickets to a show at the Ordway. It was nice to have someone who could help me with my stupid hectic life. I didn't have to deal much with the office really, except for a couple maintenance calls, move-in, and move-out, but I always found them to be sharp and courteous. I think they do very well.
I totally recommend Galtier Towers. The renovations to the lobby (marble and granite galore!), exercise room (decent, not cheap, equipment), laundry (large capacity machines that work!), not to mention new appliances and lights in every apartment are just some of what makes this place worth every penny. My mortgage is twice what my rent payment was. Yeah its nice owning a place, but I really miss the Towers. You should definitely check it out.
