I moved out! Management is abrasive, arrogant, conceited, patronizing, condescending; and focused only on MONEY! Water is constantly being shut off in the Jackson Tower; hot water is not hot; elevators do not work and are constantly down for repair, no emergency fire routes are posted, and watch out....you will never see your security deposit. Management comes up with ridiculous reasons to spend your security deposit. By law, management is supposed to give you your security deposit back within two weeks; and/or 14 days, or, is supposed to give you written notice of the disposition of your security deposit. It is now going on 8 weeks and I have heard NOTHING about the security deposit. Rent at this place at YOUR OWN RISK. All the management in this building cares about is MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. Greed! Total GREED and very poor resident-centered customer service. Oh, and one more thing; watch out....your utility bills will be going UP! Residents suspect that they are paying not only for their OWN heat, electricity and A/C; but that part of their untility bill is paying for heating the hallways and lights for the building itself. Since I have moved to a new place, my utility bills have dropped 75%! When fire alarms go off, no annoucemets are made; thus residents do not know what to do! The management of this Galtier Building has been reported to the State of Minnesota numbers times for very serious fire-code violations! Laundry machines are constantly not working! To future renters: (and this is my experience and opinion) The management of Galtier are SHARKS!

This please is great...nevermind the last negative post. The staff is very accomodating, the apt building itself is extremely well maintained. It's also a very good value, especially compared to Minneapolis. I rate this place an 8.5/10

This simply isn't true. I have never had a problem with management -- they have always been very helpful and friendly towards me. Water has been at appropriate temperatures, and I received my security deposit back on time. Additionally, what more is needed for fire escapes beyond the standard EXIT signs pointing the way? When the fire alarms last went off, it was due to the city of St Paul testing them. Notices were posted at all entrances of the building and parking ramps letting people know of this, and the general manager of the retail and office space sent out a mass e-mail about this. The rating here is simply false.

lovestpaul - This poster is clearly lying. I asked Christine directly about hallway utilities, and she told me that if anyone has any doubts about their power usage, the resident can ask Xcel to come out and inspect where the electricity lines go to. She said people are more often in a huff about their electricity bill because they will have several computers in their apartments and leave them on all day.
Additionally, the staff is anything but condescending! I can't believe that you would smear them. The apartments go for market rates, and for what you get, that is a VERY fair price... so much for the "greed" argument.
Also, if you bothered to read the Resident Handbook, it states exactly what to do in case of a fire. I suggest you read it over, and quit your tar and feather campaign on Galtier!

This poster clearly has a bone to pick, as it appears to be factually incorrect, and as lancer said, this person appears to not have read the Resident Handbook, where information about what to do in case of a fire is listed. Not to mention the exits signs posted to the stairways, and notes posted in all of the elevators lobbies announcing fire alarm testing.
The washers and dryers are all brand-new, and I've yet to see one not working. Being reported for fire-code violoations and being cited are two different things. Galtier appears to be well-equiped in case of fire, and I don't see anything which would indicate fire-code violations, as not only are residents told in the handbook what to do, but emergency exits are easy to find, and everything is clean and well-kept.
As far as electricity goes, my last bill was $22. About have of that was city taxes. After talking with people, their bills tend to range between $20-35. To see a bill drop 75% is astounding, and quite frankly, unbelieveable. The only way you could have a large bill is if you are plugging in and using a lot of appliances, and running the air conditioning on full blast.
The person who posted the above review is evidently unhinged.

A landlord has 21 days, not 14, to return your securtiy deposit or send you an itemized statement as to why funds are being withheld. If you do not provide your landlord with your forwarding address, they have no way of sending the deposit or the statement.
