The problems don't seem to only be with Village Park of Ballwin, but with the entire Village Green Company in the St. Louis area. Village Green would do anything to save a dime and is very understaffed when it comes to their maintenance crew. When I first moved into my 2 bed, two bath apartment in August of 2007 there were many problems. We had a lot of plumbing and water pressure problems. Lights were out at entrances to my building that were still not fixed after many complaints at move-out a year later. In the middle of winter my heat was going out and was turning on during the day and off at night for over a week. It was 50 degrees in my apartment at night and the maintenance staff only would help when it was convenient for them. After dealing with this heat problem for over a week, they finally gave me some guy's cell phone number to call and when I called him in the evening when my heat went out, he did respond quickly to come over to fix it, but he was DRUNK. I'm sorry but if you're "on-call" there is no excuse for drinking. Not only that, but my boyfriend had to tell him what the problem was because he couldn't figure it out! I did not feel comfortable reporting the problem with him drinking because I knew he had access to my apartment and did not feel safe. The leasing manager was very rude and not willing to help, but other than her, the rest of the staff was nice. I work for a company that leases from West End City apartments in St. Louis and they have just as much, if not more problems with the maintenance staff and leasing manager in that building. Overall, the place is VERY run down and dark entering the buildings. The walls are paper thin and I could hear everything coming out of the apartment next to mine. The place just was not very homey and I never actually felt safe eventhough it was a safe environment. It's not worth the money and I recently found an apartment in much better shape for just a little more than I was paying at Village Park.
