Good Place to live... But don't expect your deposit back.

I loved living at Woodsmill Village Apartments. They were brick buildings with thick firewalls on each side of you so you couldn't hear your neighbors and they couldn't hear you. Only occasionally would I hear the neighbors. My wife and I lived there for a year and loved our apartment. There were 2 pools, one for Woodsmill Village tenants, and one for the tenants and the health club across the street from the entrance to Woodsmill Village. There was also a nice little pond out behind the apartments, and geese and ducks would come and go through the seasons. The pet policy is good if you only have cats and you are willing to have them declawed and fixed. When we moved in we didn't have any animals but later got a cat. The kitten always attacked our feet and would wake us up in the morning so we decided to get another one to keep him company. We adopted a cat from the humane society and brought him home. He was a great cat but he had urinated a couple times on the carpet because he was scared of using a litter box with a lid and door. After we figured out why he did that we got a litter box without a lid and he never had a problem again. We cleaned up the spots where he had problems immediately after it happened. What concerns me is that they told us not to shampoo our carpets before we left, and if we did they would charge us for it. My mother has had many cats in her lifetime and knows how to get urine out of the carpet without replacing all of the carpet and the foam under it. There are plenty of cleaners out there that get rid of that kind of thing. If they would've let us clean the carpets our self there would have been no problem and they would've never known the cat had urinated in a couple spots. But we were stupid and didn't shampoo it for fear of being charged for no reason and after they checked the apartment they said that all of the carpet was ruined and they not only took all of our $650 deposit, they charged us an additional $460 on top of that for the "Damages" to the apartment. Although I think it was outrageous the money it would cost to try to fight it, along with the lack of photographic evidence would probably make it cost more than it did. I just want to warn anyone that if you choose the live there and have pets and they have any accidents on the floor that you should immediately clean it up and shampoo your carpets even when they tell you not to. Because I know for a fact that plenty of companies make carpet products for pet stains and stuff like that, and I know they work. My mother's carpet looks and smells brand new and she's had it for over 10 years with multiple pets having issues on the carpet.
Also, when they do replace the carpet they go through a company that charges OUTRAGEOUS prices for the carpet. It was about $1200 just for the carpet in a 1000 sq.ft. apartment. When I know that the carpet wasn't super high quality that was in there when we lived there. So just beware!!!!!!
