The apartment itself wasn't bad. Good location, pretty spacious for the price. When our roof caved in (due to a broken toilet in the upstairs neighbor's bathroom) was when things got really bad. It took maintenance over a month to fix the problem. There were maintenance people and others coming in and out of the apartment whenever they want, even sometimes while we were trying to sleep! When asked about lowering the cost of rent because of this inconvenience, Verna turned the argument around and blamed us. I wouldn't recommend Ashland Manor for a multitude of reasons, and No. 1 is that you will feel sick putting money in that greedy old woman's pocket. And, no matter what, you probably won't get your security deposit back. We never had any complaints against us and left the apartment in great shape and won't be seeing a dime.

that sounds almost identical to my experience, except it was a leaking roof, not a toilet; I never saw my deposit back and I called her for six months
