gatehouse was the worst place i have ever worked.
i did maintenance and i realy did the best i could with what i had to work with.
pluming was the worst..... id get paged at 1am becaus someones bathroom ceiling had colapsed ( please excuse my spelling i know its not the best )
when i got there the exposed plumbing that i saw was horrible and i realy wasn't sure about a proper way to fix it because it had been very poorly patch over a poor patch over a poor patch for the last 15 years and there was no real way of salvaging what was left.
when it rained we would just run around and plug aur fingers in all the holes untill it stoped, and then tell the resident that the problem had been fixed without us realy doing anything. the flat roofs were in need of replacing but we were not alowed to do anything about it.
we had to rotate a pager and i would get it one week out of the month, people would call me at 2am because there closet door did close right. other people would call and yell at me because they had put in a work order 4 days ago and nothing had been done yet. i tried to take care of thing i realy did but the work conditions were worse the the tenents living coditions, you would be horrified at some of the things i had to do there. the last week i was on call i had 15 hours over time.

i would never recomend anything about any of there properties for living in OR working at.
i didn't take me long to realize that it was a sinking ship and i bailed as fast as i could.
the properties have now been repode by the bank and i couldn't begin to think how things might have gotten worse if thats even posible.
one of the resons (among meny) that i quit was that i was afraid for my safty when i went on calls at night. some lady was robed at nife point right in front of our shop at 6pm, the guy jumped in her car a put a nife in her face and demanded money.
the danger and work enviroment was not worth the $10 hour i was beeing paid.

I feel for you... I wrote one of the negative reviews here and said some mean things about "maintenance" generally. Didn't mean to pick on anyone individually -- the whole place was rotten from top to bottom, so I sure as hell wouldn't have wanted your job! Here's to getting as far away from Gatehouse as possible ;)

I also worked for Gatehouse, a couple years ago when it was still under Homkor's management. I worked as a leasing agent. Truly, I am ashamed I ever worked for this company. I regret having leased to unknowing tenants who truly had know idea the kind of place they were actually moving into. We were encouraged to ultimately lie; to say anything to get them to "sign that lease." And I regret I ever participted in this activity. As part of our pay we were able live on th property without paying rent. As a tenant I realized fully the -------- I was living in and leasing. The apartments are (contrary to what any leasing agent may tell you, trust me I know: Unsafe (my window was shattered in the middle of the night), loud, infested with EVERYTHING, dirty, cheap in every way you can imagine, cared for poorly, and your complaints and maintanence issues will not be handled propery. There is a diverse group of people living at Gatehouse as well; which may be a plus or minus to you. As of 2 years ago there were mainly Bosnian, Mexican, an Russian tenants in this establishment. Please, college students of Columbia and anyone else, DO NOT Rent or live here. P.S. I am truly sorry to anyone I decieved when working for this company.

Wow. Deceptive tactics by you or your peers caused me great stress. I understand the posters in this thread - it felt like it was a sinking ship - needing thousands of dollars in structural repairs to make things right.
