Move Elsewhere

My roommate and I were very excited to move to the Links. We weren't excited about paying as much as we are for a 2 bedroom and a crappy view, but with all of the promises they made us how could we not move here' Everything seemed so new and wonderful. Boy were we wrong.

We were showed a demo apartment before we moved in. Everything looked perfect and since we were moving into a brand new apartment we assumed ours would be just as perfect. They didn't tell us our building was built by a different (cheaper) construction company. Upon move-in to a new place you are always asked to write down anything you notice so you are not charged for it upon move-out. There was not enough room to write down all of the items wrong with our apartment on the paper they gave us. We ended up typing a 3 page paper and giving it to them. Electrical outlets sticking out of walls in every room, gashes and paint chips removed on the walls and doors, a huge scrape in our countertop, drywall plaster all over the baseboards and on floor, chips in the bathroom floor, half the screens on the windows missing, caulking missing on the shower so water always leaks on the floors, among many other things. Keep in mind this place was brand new and never before lived in. It was ridiculus.

We were told there was security at the Links. Wrong again. There have been so many break-ins in the apartments around ours and cops here at night that it is scary. We see people running around and jumping the fences. I don't feel safe at all. There is no security guard. There are also alot of door-to-door people coming to sell stuff at random times. I'm always nervous to open the door. I usually want to ask them if we look like we have extra money since we are living in these overpriced shitholes while we are in college.

Our electric bill has been another issue. I used to live off of Rangeline in a 4 bedroom 4 bathroom duplex with 4 girls and had half the electric bill that I have living here at the Links with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and 2 girls. Something is wrong with that. We use no more electric than we used to use at our previous home. These places are just made so ------ that air/heat escapes it so easily. Our neighbor gets mad at us for slamming our door. However, our door does not stay shut unless you pull it very hard. I feel sorry for her but what are we suppose to do, leave our door wide open when we leave'

Management is rude and they act like you are stupid for asking any questions. They are so unorganized and lazy. Walk into the clubhouse and you see them eating and gossiping with thier feet up on the desk doing nothing. They told us that our parents could come and stay in an executive suite for the weekend for a small price, but after we moved in they conveniently told us that the rule changed. The fax machine in the "business office" does not work. Ever. Everything is so unprofessional. In fact, my roommate and I received an eviction notice taped to our door one day when we came home from school. They are idiots. We do our rent by direct withdrawl and they are suppose to take it out of our accounts every month on the 3rd (and they had every month up to that point). When we questioned management about it she looked into our file and said "oh, my bad". That is a pretty large mistake!! How does that even happen'

Also you pretty much have to use their cable and internet companies. Our internet only works 50% of the time and everytime you call the company they are "working on it" and it is down for days at a time. Our cable also goes out way too much and certain channels don't work. It is horrible.

They don't clean the tanning beds. You are expected to do it yourself and no one ever does. You will definately catch some kind of disease in there it is disgusting. Same for the fitness center. Machines are never wiped down. People are always at the pool who don't live here. They are gross too.

I cannot wait to move out. Do not move here. I think many people are getting the idea since people are moving in our building all of the time and moving out shortly after.

The only good thing about this place is that they are incompetent accountants and charge the wrong amounts for rent from time to time or sometimes forget to take it out at all.
