Find another place

The only thing I can say I enjoy about this place is the parking. I initialed moved here and thought it would be a great place to live; it looked nice, and the amenities sounded great. Now, where do I begin' When I first moved in it was nearly impossible to move any large items up to the second floor because of the stair design and the railings that are installed. The front doors look like someone took a bat to them or fell off the semi on the way to the place. There are dents on the front doors and only one other person lived in my place before me. The materials used to build this place are complete crap. I suspect in 5-10 years the complex will be completely destroyed or rotted out and will become Columbia's new project complex. We can't vacuum because you vacuum up the carpet. The times we have vacuumed we had to empty the container every five minutes because it was completely filled with carpet fibers. The area around the windows are starting to mold already, my neighbor has a leak in his roof and nothing is being done about it and didn't have a washer for the first two weeks despite constant reminders to the office and when they did bring the appliance they brought a dryer. The cable and internet suck and you don't have any options unless you want to spend your time shopping around. My internet rarely works and this is a commonly complaint talking with other tenets and nothing is being done, at random times channels won't work or the sound won't work. The carpet is peeling up in areas, so is the linoleum and this place isn't even a year old yet. The wood frames around the doors aren't nailed in correctly, and are separating, there are drill holes by are windows. This whole complex was built quicker than most foundations are poured for houses so you can imagine the short cuts and work forced they hired to complete the job. Overall the places are crap, our electricity bills are ridiculous because there is little to no insulation. The pool looks nice and would be nice except it has turned into Columbia s new community pool and people bring stereos down there and play their music way louder than it needs to be so if you don't like it tough and the music is definitely not kid friendly and should not be allowed to be played. It says no beer or smoking on the signs, but people are doing it and even the people that work here go to the pool and drink and smoke and just throw their butts and cans down wherever. The golf course is a joke, I have played on some bad courses but this takes the cake. It was flooded for 95% of the summer and when it wasn't it was like walking through a marsh. Your pants and shoes are ruined from the mud that got on them. They offer free carts until they complete the other side of the course or something like that. Except good luck getting a cart, the workers use most of the carts and the two or three that aren't being used are impossible to get because people take them for joy rides around the complex and just plain abuse the carts so I'm sure they will be destroyed soon. The fitness center is pretty good I will give them that, but again the equipment is not taken care of. The business center is nice if you can use a computer. Most of the times I go down there, the kids of the workers are playing on the computers. When I have wanted to print something it rarely worked, they are out of paper most of the time or the toner is low and when I asked them to change the toner they said they had no idea how to. They had this fiasco where several apartments were robbed because two individuals who don't even live in the complex some how got a master key (I suspect from one of the workers) and were just going around opening up apartments and taking whatever they wanted. Luckily, someone finally caught them in the act and they were arrested before they could rob the entire complex. Except no-one knows how many master keys were copied, how many people are in on it, and how they got the key. My question is why would you have a master key for every single apartment' There are safer and more responsible ways of doing this. Then of course you want your locks changed because you don't want to get robbed and of course I am still trying to have mine changed and have called several times and been very polite and understanding, but I am going down there now in person to see what is being done after I drive around the whole place and look for these people they say are doing this. But come on I am at school and work for most of the day and the entire time I am gone I am worried that my place is being robbed. Then they send this letter out apologizing for the inconvenience all I can say to that is a little to late. They have know about this incident for probably three weeks because I have know for two and a half and have been trying to get my locks changed, but nothing yet. Every time I call they say they are working on it except I have not seen one person working on this and the stories I get from the people in the office are completely different. One said they started already the other said they haven't started yet. I'm to the point now where I want to just leave this place and move somewhere else. I can't even feel safe, constantly worrying that I am going to be robbed. And the people who commit crimes in Columbia aren't petty criminals; they carry weapons and are dangerous. I can only imagine how many keys are made and how many criminals have the keys to this place. They are probably just hanging low for a while because two were arrested and then will hit it hard over Thanksgiving or Christmas when a lot of people leave. This incident has been by far the worst experience I have had renting and dealing with management. Nothing is being done and they don't even care. They are so reactive to everything instead of being proactive. They knew about this for a long time and didn't even start doing anything until there was an article in the newspaper and a story in the nightly news station. It is pathetic to say the least. The workers are incompetent and you can't get anything done talking with them except a lot of wasted time. I feel like most people will leave this place for other places soon, I know I am. Unless the whole structure of this place is changed it will become a crime hot spot and the next projects of Columbia. Seriously, if you are thinking about moving here don't, their amenities are not worth what you pay for and have to put up with.

WOW!!! Can I just say "bravo"!!!!!! You did a fabulous job on describing the horrible place they call a home!!! My experience there was soooo terrible! I have also posted on here but forgot to mention the disgusting carpet situation! I had to buy a new vaccumm because the fibers on the carpet had messed it up so bad! Good review!!!

OMG I live here right now and you just said everything that I wanted to say! The stupid lock thing, who knows if they are even putting new ones on bc i know once of the people who got robbed and they gave her a a new lock that was "temporary" there is supposed to be only one key other than the one she has, they took her other key to the orginal lock only get this they came around and changed the locks in her building last week and guess what, they put the same one back on!! and how do we know this? because her lock was supposed to only be temporary, it was supposed to be switched back to the origninal one. who knows if they have changed mine, theres no way of telling and god knows calling and asking wont get me anywhere. the same girl that got robbed has had her porch light out for the past two months and they wont fix it, how hard is it to fix a stupid light bulb? their out of light bulbs they say one day, or their working on it blah blah blah, only one other person even lives in the building besides her and she lives in the one bedroom (they do not have their own porch light to turn off and on) so if the neighbor turns theirs off, then its pitch black. and when she asked them to switch the bulbs with the apartment next to her which doesnt even have a tenant they claimed they "were not authorized to do that". This place is crap, my electricity bill is over $120 this month and its never even warm in my apartment! my vaccumm almost blew up because of the stupid fibers and there is dents all over the cabinets and i am the first person to ever live here. i over heard the people who work here at the pool one day over they summer saying that the construction workers threw the doors off the truck and left them there on the ground for a couple days and they ended up getting hailed on so thats why they look like someone had a field day with a baseball bat. now there has been a fire in the building down the road from ours and god knows that will probably never get fixed. another girl i talked to said her they got a furnished apartment and her roommates mattress had blood on it when they moved in!!! but god forbid they fix it, no she had to call repeatedly just to get a new one!!! i think the whole management staff is corrupt and full of crap. they dont care about any of the tenants, you should have seen the look on the directors face at the neighborhood watch meeting when the news lady showed up but of course she got mad and declined to talk to her. not to mention during this meeting six people were robbed! and the stupid director had the nerve to lecture everyone at the meeting that the possibilty of the burglar having the master key was just a RUMOR! hmmm then not even two ours later they catch the two guys with the master key!!! supposedly this place is going section 8, i've been hearing that for months and everyone has been freaking out about it, its already in shambles, if it goes section 8 it prolly wont be any different. I wish there was something we could do about all this........
