Fool Me Once

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2004
I moved to St Louis on short notice and had to find an apartment quickly. Location to my new job was critical (I didn't want to spend hours competing on highways with 4 million other St Louis commuters).
I chose Cross Creek. I chose badly. The sales people and office staff are young. They are not knowledgeable and have little sensitivity to anything but sales goals and quotas. I wound up taking an apartment sight unseen, after being assured that the apartment would be identical in all important ways to the display I'd been shown.
Mea culpa.
The apartment I got was ratty looking and smelled like a garbage dump. I was put in a section with lots of people who appeared to have nothing to do but work on their trucks day and night on the parking lots. They also liked to drink malt liquor and beer until they passed out on the staircases.
On several occasions, I was accosted by groups of guys. They leered at me, followed me, and suggested various things they'd like to do to me. I do not relish the idea of any of these cretins putting any part of their body in mine.
When I complained to the management office, they gave me the idiot treatment. Nice smiles, but no action.
In the meantime, my ceiling fixtures spark and smoke whenever it rains. My kitchen appliances work intermittently at best. You can't rely on them to finish a meal you've started to cook, or to keep items cool/frozen.
My bathroom has one tile wall that's half gone to to long-term water damage. I can see current termite activity that's going to bring the whole wall down soon. Once again, management has not responded.
If you choose to rent here, be warned. What you see is not what you get.
