Creve Coeur Ghetto

Yes folks, nestled in the very eastern-most heart of prestigeous West County lies the Town & Four apartment complex. I have lived in the townhouse I currently occupy going on six years now, and before that, lived almost two years in another townhouse adjacent to where I now reside. Stupid''' Most definately. But having environmental circumstances that disallowed me to move have indeed put me in the correct position to comment on this community.
In summation... this place is the largest and most consistently run-down ghetto I have ever paid good money to live in. I keep expecting HUD to come in and take over things, but, in the long line of managers and management compaines that have filed through the doors here during my stay, alas, HUD was not one of them.
I will not reiterate the laundry list of problems that have, and continue to plague this 38-year-old community, as I feel the major ones have been covered by the people posting in this forum before me. But I will give a brief synopsis of why you might consider other choices...
1. Of course, there is the infamous flooding problems. I have been begging (for 5 years now)and they have been promising in one fashion or another to fix this problem. This, has been all lip service, which they ALWYAYS favor over actual CUSTOMER SERVICE. This is, of course, assuming you do not get their typical "deal with it" attitude.
2. The fire marshall has been in several apartments because of "hot spots" in the walls, which they were told to fix because of being a fire hazard, but had to be forced by a court of law to do so. Being that the wiring has not been updated in any apartment they have not been forced by the courts to update, most of them still have cloth/aluminum circuitry.
3. The St. Louis Department of Health was her over a two-year period trying to get them to comply with riding the buidlings of dangerous led paint. Their efforts and a court ruling took almost a year for compliance due to cheap labor practicies on their part.
4. The HVAC systems have not been cleaned professionally... EVER. Their fix is to come in and have maintenence psople use shop-vacs, which creates more crud than it eliminates. Thus, the air in the apartments is hazardous to the point of being a medical and health hazard. This being said, it does not even TOUCH the inefficiency of the system and the astronomical costs that are passed on to the tennant.
5. Pools - they are generally shut down by the department of health at LEAST 4-6 times in a season, although it was less last year. As for the other facilities, I don't care to get something I can't get rid of, so can't judge that.
6. All of the other complaints listed here. I don't want to make this too long, so I include them. Parking, maintenence, lighting, safety, landscaping, and general attitude, of the staff here is horrid. Plus about anything else that you can think of.
As I said, this place is a DUMP, first class. if they wanted to recover from this, they should have started 20 years ago. I wouldn't let my mother, daughter, best friend, worst enemy live here..........and hopefully, by the time you read this, I will have moved my in-home office from this dark, moldy, and uninhabitable basement to someplace with a window. Peace.
